I guess some are just so attached to Bethany and her as companion that they don't want to give her up. Their anger is little misdirectioned though, Cullen is just doing his job and actually being really considerate in it. I guess some players don't think further than: damn you for taking my sister away from me! ^^;

And yet I see no one saying 'damn you taint!' or 'damn you Grey Wardens!' for taking away their precious boo boo Bethany if they take her into the Deep Roads.

(disclaimer: I don't dislike Bethany! I just like Carver more.)

See, this is the point when most will squawk that we are so quick to defend Cullen for his nonsense actions, and it's just silly. Had he not arrested her, he could have been then in trouble as well for harboring mages, right?

And, perhaps most importantly, this would have been totally out of character for him. Cullen believes in the sacred duty of the templars with all his heart and soul. He believes mages belong in the Circle, not just for the safety of the general populace, but for the safety of the mages themselves. This may be a strongly held belief that the player does not agree with, but so what? (Personally, I am NOT in favor of imprisoning people against their well and separating them forever from their families.) Cullen is a character, and a richly written one at that. I just can't understand hating him for being written well, which is essentially what hating Cullen for bringing in Bethany is.

The Irony?Bethany likes it better in the circle, while in the wardens she becomes way too bitter.

I so agree with you. I don't dislike Bethany, but I feel Carver feels so much more like a sibling (to me at least) I mean I don't remember ever agreeing with my sister as much as Bethany does, she is just too, I don't know maybe more like a BFF than a sibling.

And realistically, after all those years... he probably should've killed her. And arrested the rest of the Hawke family.

They only have a standing order to kill maleficar, not apostates. He wouldn't have killed her under any circumstances.

I actually preferred Carver aswell tbh.  I think I just really liked the idea of sibling rivalry like what I have with my older sisters.  That, and his whining actually made me laugh haha

I wonder if they wanted to do it all along, or it's because we wrote a bunch of pages about how much we want such video? Regardless, it will be awesome! I can't wait to see it!!!

And I'm so happy, because I've been missing GE's tweets to Cullenites  ^_^

 I know, right?! It would solve all the problems!

OT: How does the Circle differ from a University, I wonder? I would love to know what's being studied in each.

If you accept the quest "A Noble Agenda," you find out that the sentence for harboring an apostate is death. I can't imagine they'd be much gentler on the apostates themselves.

But then again, that was Kirkwall. They do things a little differently up there than they do elsewhere in Thedas, so you may very well be right.

I'm the opposite! I'm very close with my sister and brother, and we don't fight. My sister and I are practically twins. So I relate more to the Bethany/Hawke relationship than the Carver/Hawke one. Carver just seems so mean, like he barely loves his brother/sister. It breaks my heart.

I feel there's far more to Carver's character arc than Bethany's, especially if you put in the work to friendship him. Bethany, while I don't dislike her, feels like a rather... stagnant character. Grey Warden!Bethany goes through some changes and there's a character arc there, but it doesn't feel complete? Carver-- especially a Warden!Carver goes from an insecure boy who feels inadequate next to his older sibling (which is a HORRIBLE feeling, especially if it's accompanied by lingering doubts and the feeling that 'if my parents see such little worth in my accomplishments, why didn't they stop with my older sibling') to a man who has found himself and can stand on his own two feet. Add the friendship path to that, and you also have a story about recovering a relationship with his older sibling he'd thought would never be the same as it was when they were younger.

Carver reminds me of  my real little brother except from the whole "I'm in your shadow" thing,so I'd say that he also felt more like a sibling to my Hawke...Bethany on the other hand is sweet but I don't know, she didn't grow on me as much as Craver did.

I usually think it's a bad idea to speak so definitively :P In any case, short of executing her (which I can't see Meredith vehemently opposing), he could have opted to make her Tranquil.

Carver was far and away my favourite sibling, especially GW carver. He really finds his purpose and I find him amusing, even the whining. He felt like a real brother, and he isnt all nicey-nicey like Bethany :)

What frustrates me is that his tightly held beliefs also nearly let Kirkwall burn to the ground via Meredith. Granted, he stood against her in the end, but that doesn't change the fact that he defended Meredith for quite a while.
