They certainly had plenty of time to try to get used to each other, lol! I think in DA:O I just died more, so I felt I could never leave home without Wynne. Zevran was my LI, and even though he didn't have much to say outside of camp, the romantic in me made sure he tagged along. And it just plain didn't make sense to not take my fellow Warden.

I felt a lot more versatility with DA2; I couldn't begin to tell you who my go-to team was, other than that I always had the LI with me (and of course I've romanced all 4).

Lol, I sort of commit to just the one LI (ie. Alistair, Anders and now.... Cullen!).  It feels so good being able to say that at last haha.  I always drag my LI along with me, no matter what my party is like.  In DA2 I ended up having me, Anders, Merril and Aveline along for Merril's companion quest.  Although Aveline is practically a literal tank so....

I can't wait to hear if Cullen is a companion or not.  If he is I think it's fair to say I'm dragging him everywhere  :D

Most certainly to some extent. New players would have no clue about his previous history, and having Cullen explain what happened to Kinloch Hold could help them understand how dangerous mages can be, and why templars could be seen as necessary. I will be shocked if Cullen makes no mention of it, or Kirkwall. They are equally important to Thedas's and his own personal history.

Ah that's true.  I can just imagine new players playing as mages wondering why Cullen is so suspicious of them (cue picture of Cullen hlding up a chair to fend off all the mage Cullenites)

I usually take Alistair with me since he typically ends up as my only tank. Would sometimes take Wynne closer to end game for heals and to trigger her spirit of faith scenes.

Sometimes I really hate scenes that only trigger at certain points with some characters. Like Fenris' wounded coast scene, I nearly miss it every time.

Yes, this is very annoying. Like, in DA2, party composition of 1/2 for the win, 1/2 for the talkies. I hope it's more like in DAO, where you can bring the character there any time, if I'm remembering correctly, and then trigger it.

Another thing I'm worried about with DAI is the fast traveling. What... What if I miss something? I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.

Same thing if only the Inquisitor gets a horse and everyone else just runs reeeaallly fast behind me. If that ends up the case, well..

We shall be infamous for being late to every meeting, yet be renowned for having the most fabulous glutes in all of Thedas.

My jaw dropped.

that and my eyes popped. REALLY!?!?! OH MAKER!

I submitted a piece of satire about urban city cyclists (and how much we all hate them) to McSweeney's, I may be a published author in a few months....

LOL In his defense, almost everyone is in the DA:O CHR files. Except for a few, like Morrigan, IIRC.

I'd guess the only above average person I could think of would be Celene, and the people at the University.

Yes. I have a feeling these mounts that the DA guys have worked hard on are going to be staying behind. A lot.

CULLEN: [PANTING] Any... particular reason... we don't... use our horses...?

INQUISITION: [ALSO PANTING] Well... if you... talked to me... we could!

SOLAS: [UNDER HIS BREATH] Creators, not again.

CULLEN: Maker... are you... really... bringing that up... now?

VARRIC: Mom and Dad... need to stop... fighting!

I want to know how the mounts are going to work.

Do we get on one from a stable in one of our keeps and are sol if we leave without one?

Do we have a horse whistle and call it? Something like Red Dead Redemption maybe?

Does "sickly brown horse" just sit in our inventory until clicked on, and then, boom! "I'm on a horse!"

I hope it's the first one, but I'd bet it's the second.

I'm on a horse, y'all! I'm on a horse, y'all! Everybody look at me, cause I'm riding on a horse!

The animal-in-inventory really only works with a cat, although I still found it weird that Ser Pounce was a selectable "item" Yeah, our companions better have mounts, too; I stopped bringing my companion around with me in Skyrim; it was him or the horse, and I chose the lovely horse lol

I'm a little late to the party, but here it goes.

When did you first meet Cullen (e.g. as Amell/Surana, in the Broken Circle quest, or in DAII)?

Female archer Cousland Warden.

Tbh my husband disappeared entirely from the game. Went back to where he's supposed to return to and found nothing. My poor Leeroy.

I totally had an "Oh no he's hot!" moment when I first saw Cullen in DA2.

I think the only time I took my companion with me was when I sacrificed Lydia to that one daedric god. The horse was fun at first but soon became annoying because the stupid thing kept interfering in combat. I must've accidentally killed at least 3 of my own mounts.  :o

Any of you console types want to explain what the circles in the lower right are intended to mean?

The top black circle says Summer Pony to my eyes, but it looks like that's just telling you that that's why the yellow Y button is mapped to, is the horse...?

I just want to know why that poor horse is standing still with a dirty great sword stuck through it's ribs!

(does it actually say "summon pony"?)

Although, I think I *want* a Summer Pony, now.

Also, just finished The Masked Empire.  :o     :o

Having serious calculations about my Inquisitor's backstory now, though. I'm walking around the house all, "Hmmm." haha

Seems to be a common reaction... I'm curious now! Maybe I'll actually give it a read! I haven't read any of the DA books.

I recommend reading all the DA books. 1) It'll give you some amazing insight about the lore and history of the games, and some of the characters we know and love. 2) Even without the games to go with them, they're all well written and fun and worth the read on their own. :D

When did you first meet Cullen (e.g. as Amell/Surana, in the Broken Circle quest, or in DAII)?

My first character was a male city elf and so I first met Cullen during the Broken Circle quest.

What was your first impression of Cullen?

I was too caught up being heroic to pay him much attention.  I was all 'Grrr, stop telling me your problems - can't you see BOSS battle looming, got to check the health potions.'

When did your impression of Cullen change (if ever)?

Probably when I played through the Mage Origin.  I thought 'wow, this annoying tin man likes me, he has GOOD taste' and then basically told him to F off because that's how my Surana rolled.  (Ok, so I may have reloaded a couple of times to see if i could sleep with him but it was just research for SCIENCE....don't question me!)  It was when we met him again in the Broken Circle quest that I became more interested in him.  My Elfie had a major chip on her shoulder about pretty much everything (mages, templars, wardens, Jowan, dying horribly from the taint....you get the picture she had issues) and wasn't the most compassionate of people so of course when given the option to make insensitive comments about someone's traumatic experience I jumped all over that button and I was surprised that Cullen told her off.  I liked him the better for it and started to see him as a character in his own right instead of a simple ego stroking plot device to make me feel good about my own character.  Then of course in DA2 he continued the pattern of being strong, determined and following his own moral compass, so I pretty much drank the Cullen kool-aid at that point and decided that he was my knight-in-shining-armour of preference.  (I'm not going to lie, it didn't hurt that he'd somehow become incredibly good looking on his trip from Fereldan to Kirkwall, either ;) )

I could keep writing about what I like about Cullen forever but I won't, I'll stop now, I promise.   :)

Yeah, it means that the command SUMMON PONY! is mapped to the Y button on an Xbox 360 (and Xbox One) controller.
