Oh yes... a few years back Nikki, I think, wrote about how Carroll secretly obsessed over Cullen and stole his socks. We can all imagine what he did with said socks.

Hey Cullen thread, first post on the BSN ever. Delurking for a bit to say cant wait to meet Cullen in DAI and see what GE is up to today.. I stalk this thread quite often to find out all the things. Your all too cute.  Also ive seen Slipknot at a Soundwave concert and they're actually really amazing live, Marilyn Manson was at the same event and was just...bad. Like he was bored? The most entertained i was was when he went ass over t!ts. I did laugh. A lot. My bad. Seen NIN at another concert and they were awesome. Anyway, i hope when Cullen sings it fits in with what is happening? Dont want another Leliana moment. That was really awkward. My warden didnt know where to look.

I wasn't around much in the last couple of weeks due to some unpleasant personal stuff, so I'm really late for this, but I wanted to say it anyway: Really enjoyed looking through the 1000page celebration. So many awesome pictures and stories to discover. =)

Made me wish again I would be good or talented at something, so I could do something as a "Thank you" for all the nice awesome people here, too...sigh.

 

But anyway, I don't want to interfere you guys too much, so I just leave something Cullen, I hope you haven't seen yet and go back to my little dark corner.

Can I ask your guys opinion on the "Cullen is Fiona's son" subject?  I've literally just heard about it, and I'm sure it's been talked about before, but I'm really curious about it.

 

I feel like "Character X is related to Famous Bloodline X" has been sufficiently done in Dragon Age already. It worked well for Alistair's story because the fact he was related to the Theirin dynasty significantly affected both Fereldan politics and his personal future. With Cullen I just don't see that level of story connection with a well-known character as a relative, so I'd rather just have him be some random guy rather than related to someone just for the sake of being related.

 

I think he's already got plenty of that without piling on more. That just ends up being a plot device then.

 

I agree. Cullen already has a great deal of emotional potential in his backstory - including the aftermath of what happened with Meredith, which has yet to be explored - and I'm sure the storyline of Inquisition will give him more. I don't see any need to just add extra stuff to his story to make it more dramatic. 

 

I'd be fine with additions that directly affect ongoing elements of his journey. (For example, a suggestion was made that he might find out he had a mage parent, and that would actually affect his long-term arc regarding his evolving views on mages, so that idea would make sense and fit in.) I would rather they avoid just adding more random backstory elements that aren't connected, though.

 

You can only pile so many "issues" onto one character before it starts to come at the expense of actually dealing with any of those issues in depth. Cullen has a story arc already, and I'd rather see that arc continue than just branch off in other directions.

 

Sorry, at work. Can't write much now. My point was that, based on her set of circumstances ie going willingly and not showing violent tendencies, I don't see any possible scenario where Cullen would have killed her.

 

I see quite the opposite, actually. I don't think Cullen would kill Bethany because of who he is, but I don't think many questions would be asked if some templar felt that in terms of risk/benefit analysis, trying to bring in a long-term apostate alive was more trouble than it was worth. I would imagine "she resisted" would satisfy Meredith even if not true, and it would be much less dangerous for the templars involved to just feel free to slaughter everyone involved.

 

Well Jessica did say so herself she never forgave Cullen after the Circle Tower.

 

Wait, for what aspect? I hadn't heard this.

 

GUYS. GUYS! What if they edit and release that Cullen video TOMORROW? *heartbeat quickens* as like a surprise to us Cullenites for being such loyal fans? What?! A girl can hope!

 

Nice as that would be, I assume it would take more than a day to get something like that put together. I wouldn't get my hopes up for it to be right away. Very cool that they're making one though!

Why? I imagine there are worse fates than being hunted down by a love struck Inquisitor who's been angling to get into you 'socks' for years. This is Dragon Age after all, with broodmothers, blood magic and really BIG spiders!
