I think he remained loyal to the divine, and after Kirkwall/Asunder he got promoted in the ranks (maybe he was successful in restoring order in Kirkwall). I don't think Cassandra would honestly trust someone who defected the divine from the templars' ranks, or someone who was thrown in jail. Not with a leading position in the inquisiton.Y'know, after reading that AusGamer article where it says that Cassandra forms the Inquisition via a loop hole and the 3 advisors are pillars of the Inquisition, it makes me wonder if Cullen, Leliana and Scribe Girl are all going to be already there when we get made the Inquisitor. Unless she makes the Inquisition with us? Like, "here was the plan B, you're in charge now go seek out these 3 people that could be of use to you" sorta thing.
It also makes me wonder how/why Cassandra has him in the Inquisition, like was he already an establish military leader in his own faction before he joined us? Or did Cassandra lug him out of the dungeons and say "here's your chance to redeem yourself, go lead this faction", or did the Divine purposely give them all their own faction in preparation in case **** hit the fan?
It's the same reason why I think Scribbles might've been close/loyal to the divine in some way.
