Man I wonder in what way he'll decide to join the inquisition (whether it be as a companion or advisor)... Particularly if the Inquisitor is a mage. Will he overlook that aspect because he agrees so strongly with the purpose of the inquisition?

I think that's what's so exciting about his being in Inquisition. We really don't know where the writers have taken him!

Maybe he'll feel duty bound to protect the MageQuisitor, as a templar?

Well, we know one place they've taken him and that's to our Inquisitor's bed!

Hmm yeah... Or maybe he's just so desperate to get the veil tears closed he doesn't care who does it as long as the task gets accomplished?

Mostly I just hope his character is written to act differently in some aspect around a mage Inquisitor.

The real question is if he even notices that the Inquisitor is mage.  :P

Sorry, sorry, that was bad. I'm sorry. But, yeah, if Cullen is a companion he'll probably join in direct opposition of the Red Templars. If he joins as an advisor, it'll be because the Divine orders him to.

As an aside, I was thinking about this last night and some of the conversations that came up the other day on this thread.

To me, I'm not really that interested in where Cullen stands on the mage/templar thing from the perspective of him fitting in with my characters perception of the conflict.  I really want to see how the writers have developed his characters views.  So I don't really care if he's become more moderate or more hardcore and i can honestly say I'd be happy with either development.  I just want to see where he goes in his views and how his experiences have shaped him since we first met him all those years ago in Origins.

I like to think of it as the study of a 'good' man in extraordinary circumstances.  Also badass Cullen (should be badarse but my Husband won't let me write it like that because he says I sound like a dick) sounds kind of hot to me.   ;)

Even if not (And I could see *that* going either way), maybe as a templar, he'd feel like he could protect the mage, and keep the game from eating red lyrium and summoning ALL THE DEMONS. *good humoured shrug*  He's a good man, and a decent templar and I'm excited however they want to write him. :D

Cullen is very much, to me, a study in how a "good man" lives his life, especially in extraordinary circumstances. (And I'm out of likes, so /like!)

LOL!!

That's what I'm hoping for most... that he (and everyone else, frankly) is a little more observant.

Blast, my likes are all gone!

I think this is something the, hmmm, naysayers don't quite get. Most of the Cullenites don't care about where Cullen stands, we care about how he got there, and where he's going.

YOU'RE HOT THEN YOU'RE COLD, YOU'RE YES THEN YOU'RE NO, YOU'RE IN THEN YOU'RE OUT, IT'S BLACK AND IT'S WHITE

Ahem.

I believe this may be what his stance on the mages may be. Forever back and forth until probably endgame. Might be able to "push" him to be more hardlined or soften up a bit.

If he was in love with a mage once, he can be again.

Edited because awful was my grammar and sentencing construction.

I guess it depends what his stance is by DAI. He could be like "oh hell naw!"

"I have had it up to here with mages. I'm done."

Maybe he takes up knitting, and is the Keep's ugly sweater advisor.

Oh I don't think that'd be an issue. He's probably matured enough to recognize that not all mages are inherently evil, and if what happened in Kirkwall taught him anything, it'd probably be that the templars are hardly perfect themselves. I'm a bit tempted to try romancing him as a Qunari mage, double whammy!

Haaahaha!

Inquisitor: Would you like to join me in my tent?

Cullen: Oh HELL. NAW.

I remember race restrictions, but that would be the first romance i remember with class restrictions.
