I remember race restrictions, but that would be the first romance i remember with class restrictions.
It would certainly be an interesting take on the romance system.

I know, it's my only reservation about playing a mage. In a way I'd really like it if Cullen wouldn't shag you if you were a mage because of the whole duty thing. I mean, I'd weep and gnash my teeth (and immediately roll a different class) but I'd think it was a reasonable character decision from the writers.
Dragon Age is one of the few games where I enjoy playing the magics, so I'll probably be a mage in DAI again. They look like fun.
Still unsure if I want to make my DAO canon a Dalish elf warrior/rogue or my mage that I did all the things with. DA2 Hawke will definitely be a mage.
Hehe
I suppose it IS sort of an old lady perspective. I'm 27... I'm "experienced," shall we say.
I wonder if anyone actually had a playthrough where they ONLY romanced Cullen for those few seconds, and their Warden was so smitten she didn't romance anyone after??
Hm, well...maybe I shouldn't say that, but, um, well I do have an Amell mage among my Characters who hasn't romancend anyone (because there simply was non such chemestry and/or affection) and has some unresolved thigns going on for her regarding him. Not because they fell so totally in love the moment they first laid eyes on another that there would never be anyone else for them, but because I somehow felt that there were feelings involved which run deeper than they themselfs could grasp. And on which they never actually really had the chance to act on for various reasons invoveld - to see where it would lead them (even if that meant realaising that their relashonship would not work out in any longterm fashion or at all). To the point, where it became some unresolved issue between them, that, should they ever meet again (in theory at least), would probaly result in some emotinal awkwardness and confusion for them to deal with.
But then again, do I not feel confident in explaining myself proper here, so I most likely made a complete fool of myself. ^^
And since I'm always taking so long I'm probably way to late again anyway *sigh*
I really should stay lurked and not bother with saying anything at all... Unless I want myself to feel totally awkward and stupid again. >.<
I play almost everything as a rogue-type character first. And especially after Fenris' reaction in DA2, I'm scared to go mage at first lol.

This is how I feel about it as well. ![]()

Well, they've missed their chance with Fenris. It would be hard to display character, who'd have more legitimate cause to reject a mage.

My canon is a Dalish Rogue and a Mage Hawke, and DAI will be a Vashoth Rogue.
My secondary is a line of Blood Mages.
Female Amell and then female Hawke, and then probably another human female Blood Mage. I am curious if Cullen will romance a blood mage. I kinda hope not!
If he was in love with a mage once, he can be again.
Edited because awful was my grammar and sentencing construction.
Too hard on yourself you are!
Hey Lola, I just sent you a PM
Yeah, I kind of wish they'd have locked Fenris off to mage characters too but I think the outrage from the fans would have been too great. I can see why they would think that with only 4 characters as romances it would be unfair to shut the content off to a potential 1/3 of players because of their class choice.

Nooooo, not awkward or stupid at all!! I'm glad you posted, that's really interesting that you've got a character like that. Will it stop you at all from romancing Cullen as the Inquisitor?

I genuinely adored how his character could grow to love a mage.

I think they handled the romance between Fenris and a mage very well. (Besides, mage or mage supporter, it makes no difference.) The fact that he falls in love, and accepts that love, with a mage (or mage supporter) is one of the beautiful things about his personal arc (keeping in mind that he is still a deeply damaged person and perhaps always will be).

Honestly I don't really see the point in having a Warden holding out for Cullen, other than RP or head canon reasons. We have a different Protagonist every game, it's not like you can play your Warden again and jump Cullen's bones.
Of course it's your game, you can play it as you please and I'm not saying you're wrong, it is just my opinion. ![]()
You don't need to go back to lurking because you have a different opinion than other posters here and for feeling you said something silly. Don't worry, I post stupid stuff all the time .... it's cool, I got your back.

I have a female Shepard that went sans LI's through all three games out of love of Joker. She got turned down for a sentient ship.
Trust me, you are among friends. ![]()

And that is exactly why they won't do it with Cullen, even if he'd go full zealot by the time of DAI.
I'm with Mes, I think it's great that you had such a response to a minor NPC and that you used that to shape your character consistently throughout your game. That's good roleplaying rather than anything to feel shy about!

Amen!
And from that site
"As it will stand firm, with the help of other templars to distract, it’s up to the Inquisitor’s judgement how to handle such a strong opponent."
So I'm taking from this that there will still be templars loyal to the divine. That's probably where we will meet up with Cullen, and I'm assuming he'll look mostly like his leaked pic.
I felt fine with his romance being open to a mage, but it would have made sense to cut it off to a blood mage.
Romancing him as my blood mage was really awkward, I tell you. So was impaling myself in the gut in front of Cullen in the middle of the Gallows. ![]()
Maybe it's a silly thing to ask but i wondered: Why do most of you take his affection for a female Mage of either race as just a (childish) crush and not something with more substance/meaning behind it?
Has it soley something to do with your perception of your characters? Or is it something he does or says? Or maybe something in how it is presented to us?
You probably already changed the topic anyway, so sorry for interrupting again.
I think most of us talk about it as a crush, as in unrequited crush, since from the dialogue in the female mage origin it seems like that's the first time he's ever spoken to her.
I genuinely adored how his character could grow to love a mage.
I did too
It was so frustrating at first until I figured him out more... I just kept pissing him off lol.

Me too.
I will never forgive the Mass Effect team for that. Never.
