I wish I could get into the CullenxAmell and Fenders ships because there's soooo much fic! And that means there's got to be some good ones. But... they just don't float my boat... Hawke/Cullen shipper here....

 

I think I just find the AmellxCullen one difficult because my Warden is an Amell who only has eyes for Alistair (and Jowan before she left the tower). And with Cullen I've only ever shipped him with the Inquisitor because I joined the thread not long before the devs started talking about DAI, so straight away I was on a quest to try and get him as a companion/LI in the new game so that my new protagonist could romance him, lol.

 

Funnily enough, I don't mind SuranaxCullen ships, which is odd.

I'd like for being proven wrong, but for now i think that they'll show only IB, Sera and Blackwall at E3, and the rest of the 'new' companions will be shown later. It's better to expect this (which is in all honestly enough for me) and no the whole cast.

Well one thing I can almost always do is appreciate beautiful fan art, even though the Fenders fan art sometimes kills me lol I just concentrate on the individual characters and pretend they aren't... doing anything... to each other

Yeah it usually comes down to how someone else's ship affects your own OTP. At least in anime/manga fandoms it usually goes like this:

 

Fan A: I ship John x Mary

Fan B: I ship Mary x Alice

Fan A: WHAT OMG HOW COULD YOU MARY BELONGS TO JOHN.

Fan B: YOU B!TCH MARY WAS BORN TO LOVE ALICE, YOU SUCK.

I can pronounce most Japanese words, so let me know if you need help. Of course there is the Cullenite who actually lives in Japan; obsessedwjpn...? Or something? (I know her, just can't remember her fully correct nickname).

 
Yeah, I'll probably ask/beg for your help when I find the bloody words. Most are probably just made up words by the creator of the manga. That won't be a problem, right? It's just I'm more or less the least knowledgeable about the DnD universe we're doing and my friends are all proper nerdy about it. Except one, but she's got her boyfriend to teach her.

I was never a huge fan of that one, (and not just because of the general lack of Surana love, you racists!), but I rarely come to 'ship' characters together like that. The only thing I've ever developed properly passionate ships for was The Last Airbender, which is notorious for its shipping wars.

I think I have a hard time with seriously shipping Cullen with anyone from DAO, tbh. For me, Cullen wasn't much at first. He was a knight who was captured and tortured and survived. I admired him for that. I did think his crush on my mage warden (when I played one) was cute but it wasn't enough to grab my interest and she was always trying on her companions bedsheets - Zevran was a fave...   And then. Cullen's one possible ending just made me pity him. He didn't really become someone I wanted to see romanced until DA2 and I began head-canoning a Hawke that worked with him and was always meddling in Templar business. lol! Then he suddenly seemed like a sexual being and I've shipped him with a few people. Just not anyone from DAO. I'm just not intrigued by it.

It is weird how Surana gets ignored. Um, and don't even tell me about M!Surana. It's like he does not exist. Or M!Amell, either. Same with M!Tabris. Someone on this forum once actually said, "I don't know why anyone would even play a M!Tabris." I bit my tongue lol

 

Oh I'm a hardcore shipper. I always have OTPs in every fandom. And I die inside when I see my OTPs split apart in various different ships lol

Ships who would bother me would be Fenris/Merrill and Anders/Merrill, due to how they treat her. An interactive banter to tell both of the to shut up would've been great (It might be because she gave me a sister vibe).Though I never saw anything about it, so it's good.

I can look at beautiful pictures of a beautiful thing regardless of who it depicts. *leers* But it wouldn't personally grab my fancy unless it was my ship, ya know? It's pictures of sexual violence or questionable consent that I stay away from. I stumbled upon a Danarius/Fenris one after Hawke gave him back to that slave keeper and he wiped Fenris' memory so he was staring with a blank stare in adoration at Danarius. it made me so... Flipping. Angry! That anyone would try to romanticize that!

Yeah, it was definitely DA2 when he really stood out to me as someone who I wanted to see as a romance option... mind you, Alistair totally blasted everyone out of the water for me in DA:O so no one else stood a chance, LOL!

 

I guess there's also the tragic factor to Cullen after watching him go through so much after 2 games, ever the underdog. I guess that brought out the "protector" in me and I was like "YES! DO WANT!"

Well the M!Amell and M!Surana is probably just because Cullen doesn't fancy them. Whereas, I can totally see the M!Tabris thing, (sorry). City Elf is by far my favourite origin, but I feel it lacks impact when you're a male elf. Plus it's really Damsel in Distressy as a guy, and cooler for the lady elf to go in swords blazin'.

And usually my extent is aww, they'd make a cute couple. I was like that for both Carver and Bethany and their respective 'romances' to the point where I could only romance Merrill and Sebastian if their Hawke sibling was dead. But I don't get all defensive when someone doesn't like it or something. EXCEPT, with Avatar, because I wanted Zutara, and they kept hinting at the bloody thing in the last season and then they're like LOL nope, Katara loves Aang, trolololol. (Same with my other ships, by the way, but not as much as Zutara) I don't know what it is about that show, but it does that to me.

OMG... I know. Well... art is art. I will not tell artists what they can and can't do. Not a fan of censorship, no way. But yeah, I would prefer to never personally see such art. Just the whole slave Fenris in HODA was enough to make me quit the game.
