Wow, I've never actually spared the anvil. What happens if you do spare it? Does that mean you side Branka? Also, I did not know you could leave Redcliffe to die.

It might just be that i'm not very sharp, but what i love about origins is that every time i play it again, i always discover something new, like a new conversation with someone i did not know i could talk to. For example, The first 2/3 times i played Origins i did not know there was a tavern in redcliffe! :(

There's a tavern in Redcliffe?!

I know that if you leave Redcliffe to die you get a cutscene showing the attack. I wonder if that'll show in Redcliffe in DAI? Like, if you left it then the place looks like balls.

Yup.
It's after the windmill, but before the town proper. Up a rather steep hill.

Definitely worth checking out. There's a jerk bartender, a nice barmaid and an elven spy. As well a little codex blurb on the bar.

Yeah, you have to side with Branka. If you spare it, it's used to make golems again. It's different depending on who you leave as king though. Bhelen wants Branka to keep pumping out golems left and right and Harrowmont only wanted enough to crush what was left of Bhelen's rebellion. Also sparing the Anvil is the only way Harrowmont won't die as king in the epilogue.

Also forgot to mention that the Redcliffe tavern totally becomes the Grey Warden's Nest in every playthrough because b!tches gonna know my legacy.  B)

Yup! It's pretty interesting. It's basically at the top of the place, you know where there's this extremely long bridge that goes to a house? It's on the mountain next to that bridge. It's pretty easy to miss. There's quite a number of interesting characters in there too! The next time you play Origins, go give the Tavern a visit~ :D

I suppose I'll mention my four Wardens I have lined up for DAI since I don't think I've ever actually mentioned any of my characters before.

f!Amell w/ Warden Alistair - this is essentially the most "ran off into the sunset" playthrough... So a little generic and boring.

f!Brosca w/ Leliana - Joint hardened Alistair/Anora ruling. Hardened Leliana. Urn disappeared. Supported the templars. Killed the elves. Made Bhelen king. A circle was established in Orzammar. Destroyed the anvil.

m!Tabris w/ Zev - Did the US and left solo hardened Alistair as king. Urn disappeared. Spared the mages. Kaitlyn married Teagan. Cured the werewolves. Made Harrowmont king. Brother Burkel opened a chantry. Destroyed the Anvil.

m!Mahariel w/ Morrigan - Joint unhardened Alistair/Anora ruling. Hardened Leliana. Urn was found. Supported the templars. Knight-Commander Cullen took over. Killed the werewolves. Made Bhelen king. Spared the Anvil. This guy was a total ******* too.

Having a hard time deciding on which one I want to "import" first. They're all pretty different, but none of them let Loghain live. I think they all saved Redcliffe too because I had no idea you could leave the village to die.

Nice canons :D I've got four, too, and four corresponding Hawke's. You should post these in the "canon playthroughs" thread in the group; you can see what decisions others made, too, and it helps you figure out/remember what decisions you want to import for which playthroughs in the Keep.

Self inserts during the first ever playthrough is always the best experience when doing something like that because, just like the protagonist, you're thrown into this situation without having the faintest idea what you're doing so the pair of you are literally winging it together! I really love that aspect of not knowing where you're going or what to do next and feeling overwhelmed by the whole thing because I would imagine that's how your character is probably feeling too. Obviously, you'd feel like that during your first playthrough no matter who you played as, but I find that by recreating myself in game the experience goes beyond just a gaming and starts to reveal a few things about yourself and how you go about doing things in real life (within the games limitations, obviously).

Doing the same thing with DA:O really opened my eyes to a few home truths and problems I'd been ignoring up until that point. So I highly recommend it, if only for science!

This is so true!I must admit that that playthrough was the most enjoyable one,and also had  an impact on me,since I reacted exactly the way I felt rather than trying to have a particular mindset etc, like with my canon warden.

So,I'll start with a "Le-me" kind of playthrough for science and then carry on with my planned ones. :D

Yes you side with Branka and have to Kill Cardin,If Shale is there as well she sides with him and attacks the warden.I didn't know there was a tavern in Redcliffe until recently.

Also I didn't know that you could kiss the tavern girl as a male warden, either!Morrigan makes some really snide remarks about it as well! xD

And if you convince the bartender to give drinks for free to the militia and order the spy to help defend the village you increase the chances to save everyone during the fight.

So... I think I'm caught up. Um, Vivienne. yay. (lower case "y")

I wonder if they did it that way as a sort of calm  before the storm.

Whoa, thanks for this. I think I'm going to have my Aeducan spare the anvil, then, since she put Harrowmont on the throne.

I think it's because the demo/s will have her as a mage, Sera as a rogue and IB/BW taking the warrior spot in the party.

That's it. That's where the Warden disappeared to. That's where we'll meet our dear wardens again.  B) Mystery solved.

I think an elven lad is the closest I can get to a self-insert; whenever I play female characters I definitely don't identify with them and don't feel like I'm playing as myself. Though I do love my female characters very muchly.

On the one hand, though, I do like creating characters and building/writing them as I progress through the narrative; it's the writer in me, I guess. On the other hand, a self-insert is an interesting concept. But I think I'm learning that I play RPGs to escape the real life me, not to play a version of myself in the game.

It's something to think about!

Well, that's what I was thinking... but then Blackwall. I mean, if they're just highlighting the demo followers, then was Blackwall a freebie?

Anyhoo, since it's Sunday, and the day before E3... if I were to release a non-surprise, I'd do it today.

That's a good guess, but do you think that means we won't get anymore featurettes? I was thinking tomorrow we'd get another one at the usual time, and then continuing throughout the rest of the week.

My money's on that, given that ending when E3 ends would make it 9.

I think both BW and IB will be in the party, just in different demos or locations.

I'm pretty convinced that they are doing this by category, and we're just unaware of what these categories are. Companions vs NPCs? Sera, Blackwall, Vivi, Iron Bull are all in the same... group? Cluster? No clue. But someone had said something about these posts being strategic....

We might get Cass or Varric.
I'd love to see all companions, but they might decide to against the last three in another week. They did 'reveal' three companions the first time (GI coverage, Varric Cass and Vivienne), and they might follow the same scheme now (IB, BW and sera).
I hope to be wrong though.

Morning beautiful peoples.

OK, so the thing about the mage origin in DAO that annoyed the crap out of me (and still does, thinking about it now is making me irritable) is the fact that the options for your actions were so limited.  I understand that you cannot have a game where everything is possible and come hell or high water they were going to force you into the vaults but the only sensible thing to do in the circumstances was NOT an OPTION.

Why can't I friggin' tell

1.  Jown - By the way, I thought your whole not getting Lily into trouble argument was total BULLSHIT given that you were facing tranquility so I SPOKE to IRVING.  The games up, you're f*cked, find another plan.

2.  The Templars - Irving is making me lure my friends into a trap, I am very uncomfortable with this.  Would someone please pass on the information to the Knight Commander, so he can take appropriate steps to avoid this action.  (Also ask him to clarify the rules about seducing cute Templars - definite NO or more of a guideline   ;) )

Hah, this made me laugh!
@jasonschreier: Between Batman, Assassin's Creed, Witcher, and Call of Duty, the entire outside of E3 is just Angry White Dudes http://t.co/ikSp3LBNce

Also, where is the angry white Inquisitor?!
