Ok jokes and headcanons aside,It's probably either used for aesthetic reasons or symbolism,It could be death since ravens/crows are associated with it,but it could also represent news/messages since ravens in Norse mythology were known as messengers that would bring information to Odin.
Also It could be DA's Morrigan since her namesake,the goddess Morrigan in Irish mythlogy was supposed to take the form of a crow/raven.
Although I believe there's not really a meaning rather they used them because they fit nicely in the environments,making them more ominous etc..
