What is it like having a phobia? I mean... you can ignore this if it's an awkward question, but I just want perspective from people that actually have one? I have a severe dislike for heights/high places I don't trust (and I'm not particularly fond of grasshoppers and flying roaches), but I don't feel it's bad enough to call an actual phobia.
The thing about phobias is they can be really embarrassing.
I'm thermophobic, meaning I have an irrational fear of things that emit heat. In layman's terms, I fear being burned. I am unable to cook for myself, attempting to use a curling iron on me might make me burst into tears, and the sight of a burn (even a blister) makes me immensely nauseous. Hearing sizzling sounds give me chills. I cannot watch media where people are burning, either in fire, water, deep fat fryers...
Bleeeh.
It is the dumbest thing. I was in a wedding had to warn a hairstylist that I might break into tears because my friend wanted us all to wear up-dos and I was to have curls. Sometimes I wish I had arachnophobia. Spiders are at least poisonous.
ALSO, happy birthday Lola! ![]()

Random question about our favourite Knight-Captain - how old is he? In his early thirties?

10-11 years passed between DAO and DAI. I think he was in his early twenties (22-23), so i think he's 33-34 in DAI.Random question about our favourite Knight-Captain - how old is he? In his early thirties?

The toolset in DAO said that Greg Ellis was supposed to voice him like a 24-year-old, but that doesn't necessarily means that he was 24 in DAO. Still, it's a good jumping spot. I think ~35 is a good age to guess. Definitely between 30 and 40.

If you guys had to choose between romancing Cullen or Varric, who would it be?
Late reply, but Antivan milk sandwich.

No, which is a weird thing. In video games, it's generally not an issue for me. I don't know why. Perhaps it's because I'm in complete control over the situation. Perhaps it's because my player character never actually burns. (I also have an aversion to zombies which doesn't translate at all to video games. Watch half a minute of the Walking Dead? Nightmares. Play Resident Evil 6 for four hours? Notta.)
I can't explain it.

Ugh, same. I absolutely loved that about Alistair. I loved everything about Alistair. I loved how tender his voice would go, at times, like when he was remembering something sad, or when he was falling in love with the PC. Steve Valentine's voice acting was beyond perfect. He never seemed like he was just some guy reading lines - there was no VA, it was just Alistair.
I hope Cullen and his VA are half as good!
Sorry for the late reply (morning thread catch-up), but considering how much GE impressed many of us with just a few lines in DAO and DA2, I'm placing my bet on "even better." ![]()

Nope. But that also made me immune to fire damage, so, meh?
Like, tv shows and movies with people burning freak me right out, but video games where I am actively setting people on fire do nothing to me. And then I turn around and can't watch my mother fry bacon. It's literally the dumbest thing.

mine is embarrassing - zombies. I was forced to watch Dawn of the Dead (original) when I was a preteen at a slumber party and it launched 5 years of nightmares. It's gotten better lately because my kids are zombie-mad and I have to hear the movies, mercifully not see them. Though I did watch the trailer for Shaun of the Dead and, nightmares.

I know, right? Like, we have six companions who have been somewhat announced in an official way. Vivienne, Cassandra, and Varric straight from the Dev's mouths, Solas has not been denied as a companion and had lots of coverage in the magazine, the Iron Bull was announced in a magazine and then again at PAX, and Sera was kinda announced in a magazine.
That's it. I'm still not entirely sure that DHMG is Dorian. There's that one concept art of a guy wearing what DHMG is in-party, but I don't know if you'd call that convincing evidence. Some days I think he might be an advisor NPC, himself.
Honestly, if you stack up the official bits, Cullen's got more evidence that that. At least we know he's in the game.

Personally I think Dorian is out. Remember DG didn't seem to remember/know who Dorian was. Of course he could've been faking, but I'm not sure. I think Solas or Vivienne replaced him, and hopefully we'll get an unknown (as of yet) third female mage. (Though I'd prefer female rogue)
