We see him in the first trailer *with* the Inquisitor, obviously combat ready. So, maybe we're underestimating what "advisor" means for this game?
I know I'm really late to the party here, but I'm thinking this is pretty much the case. In the latest gameplay demo trailer, it shows Leliana, an "advisor" companion, fighting alongside the Inquisitor. And then, there's that scene where Cullen is in full battle regalia. And a tweet, from Mike Laidlaw, I think, a while back, about a very Cullen-esque quest-line. So I have high hopes for Cullen being able to come with us on some of our adventures.
Thankfully the Sera thread has remained largely civil. I think actual fans of Sera who wanted to romance her as a male are happy enough to respect the fact she's gay and be her friend, (or play as a female).
Which is what a lot of people are probably going to have to do. If Viv is a LI and straight then I will be making my first ever pt as a male so I can romance her

I'm going to make a QunQuizzy in a later non-Cullen game since they updated Iron Bulls character page (if he's a LI). I want to have a Qunari/Qunari romance and I wasn't really planning one before. I think he's going to be male.

That might be a really interesting match given the Qunari views on magic and their usual treatment of mages. Now, I kind of want to do it too - I'm stealing your idea!
