Ahahaha I was just reading something on Wiki about Cullen dual wielding blades in the new trailer (where he wears the helm), and it said he was holding a long sword and also had one at his hip. So I get really excited and watch trailer................he has the sheath of the sword he is currently holding at his hip

I got the impression it might actually be before the original trilogy but they didn't say much so I too am hoping for it to take place after it! :B

Apparently we will be going to unexplored places in the galaxy and maybe even finding new races. If we're not where Shepard is/was during the war etc then it could easily take place during or after the trilogy. Looked amazing! And it seemed like there will be day-night cycles and dynamic weather!

LadyInsanity's breakdown helped clearing a bit the situation of that demo. Though the fate of Leliana and the two other companions is still problematic .
I'm glad the lesbian option is a Follower, even if I wanted to romance Sera with my Fëanor Levallan . It strenghten the theory that Cullen is bisexual.

Oh it's confirmed that it's just more LI's than previous DA games. So not over 12 Huh I wonder if it means 2/2/2 then since that's most likely.. 2/4/2 could have been nice but I doubt.

I personally find it rather hard to speculate on these two things as we have no Idea what he has been doing for the last two years since the craziness that was Meredith and Orsino.

 

When it comes to his Lyrium addiction I would expect it to be in the game, I don't want it swept aside like it doesn't matter because I think it does. He was a Templar, he took Lyrium so he would have an addiction. From what we all know, Lyrium is a pretty hard habit to kick. I don't know how long it would take for him to get past this addiction and I don't know how long he hasn't been a Templar for (which I don't think he is affiliated with anymore due to there being no Templar insignia on his armor). He didn't hold any of the physical signs (extremely blue eyes) of extreme Lyrium addiction so we really can't know how far gone he was to the addiction.

 

By the end of DA2 he was already seeing that the system in Kirkwall was corrupt and with the Templar's breaking from the Chantry and taking red lyrium, I doubt it is something he would want to be apart of anymore as he holds true to what the Templar Order used to be, not what it has turned into.

 

These are just my opinions, every one has their own

There has been different theories but I think most popular is that he has stayed as Chantry-loyal templar when most of templar order has declared war against Chantry and there is red templars all over. Inquisition has also motto: "Whatever we were before, now we are Inquisition." So in this sense I think Cullen is currently serving Inquisition at the moment and taking vacation from templar business I'd imagine him being really templar like still, being wary of apostates and dangers of magic. I wonder if Chantry has him supplied with lyrium, if it doesn't I think he will suffer quite much from lyrium withdrawal which would weaken him.. no most likely he gets lyrium somewhere, smugglers or Chantry.

If we don't get to see how weaning off lyrium addiction works on Cullen (And I feel like he'd be just the perfect character for it), I hope we get to see someone else going through it. It'd make a nice side story.
