The others a bit back like 2-3 pages are just speculation on what IB will or will not do mixed with something Laidlaw said. Not necessarily spoilery but maybe depending on what you know about him. I do think they should be labeled, though For this very reason. 'Hmm should I click or not click I've no idea what's being discussed here' type stuff. But that's just me. I love spoilers myself but I know a few of you do not!

I think most people will stick around (I know I will, those main forums are hella scary) or flit between this one and other companion threads unless Cullen does something so morally bankrupt in the game that we all leave on mass, which is pretty unlikely

I don't think so. I'm sure more people will come to talk about him, and his romance. New people, who didn't think about him before, because he wasn't available.
I actually fear the opposite. For example, Anders thread in DAII forum sped up so much after the release, that I stopped reading it, just because communicating with other fans became impossible. My posts would drown, or things I wanted to talk about had been already discussed, so I fell out of the fandom entirely.

I can see anyone but a qunari however approaching him and confessing, and he will say that though he's into you, he doesn't want to hurt you and that's why he only hooks up with other qunari. 

 

Alternatively, he could only do this to a dwarf -- the cinematics would be nightmarish. 

 

However... I can see IB being race-restricted to just qunari, yes indeedy. If they're going to add race and class restrictions in addition to sex restrictions, AND they're going to have many LI to choose from... I can see it all happening.

 

Really, all this talk of restrictions makes it more and more likely that we'll have more than six love interests. But restricting them means you don't have to record dialogue for every race, class, and sex possibility. So having so many "potential" romances does not necessarily mean overall romance content is lessened.

 

As it is, after Varric, IB is the LAST character I would've guessed would be a LI, so I'm through making predictions!

And don't forget that apart from the romance scenes, there isn't actually a lot of difference between friendly relationships and romantic ones. Sure, they would have to add flirts to indicate interest, and there might be a few banters that pertain to the romances (jealousy reactions and the like), but mostly, it's just the odd line here or there. Which makes sense. People tend to be friendly toward people who shag them on a regular basis, so there's nothing wrong with using friendship dialogue branches.

 

And the cinematics wouldn't be an insurmountable nightmare, either. Most of the time, the animations don't need all that much alteration, at least if the races are the same. A human male LI kissing human/elf/dwarf/qunari protagonist is always going to use the same animations for that race regardless of whether it's Dorian or Cullen or Blackwall. Yes, there will be character-specific variations (Anders' panting, Fenris' wall-slam), but they wouldn't have to reinvent the entire wheel, just rearrange some of the spokes.

 

At the risk of being a Debbie Downer, I'm not sure we can take IB's confirmed promiscuity as a sign that he's a LI. He might not be interested in anything more than a fling, or he might have reservations about getting involved with the boss. But even if he isn't an LI, it's still prime fanfic material!

Loved the extended demo. There's still work to do (I hope enemies don't disappear after being killed like that bear), but it was nice showing the banter. IB is a fan of Aragorn .

I'm not going anywhere.  I can't imagine forsaking Cullen as my first and canon choice for my Inquisitor.  And that certainly means that I won't be abandoning this thread because, really, who else am I going to talk to about this?  My peers and extended family just nod and smile (and eventually roll their eyes) the rare times I bring up gaming of any kind (middle aged ladies do not get excited about gaming, you know...it's unseemly.)  While my sons and my husband are quite happy with my gaming, they just aren't huge rpg fans.  They try to be interested in my hyperactive babbling, but they don't really have a clue as to what any of it really means, storywise.  They know who Cullen is, but by now I suspect they wish they didn't.   So, nope.  Not leaving.  This is my Cullen oasis, where I can fangirl as hard as I want whenever I want.  I'm not giving it up.  Besides, I'd miss it too much.  Seriously, you guys are addictive.
