I think so. I'm not sure if it would specifically be Cullen and Scribbles, but it's addressed in this article that you would have had the option to use a different character:

And the outcome would have been different. I think that Leliana was there because the Inquisitor picked a stupid plan, not because that quest involves Leli specifically.
If that's the case then I would have said that Cullen would be the best option to take along because he has Templar skills so that he can disperse some of the magic that crazy dude is throwing around.
They are interchangeable.
Why does my spell check keep lying to me every time I spell it with an "o"? I think it may be in cahoots with my iPhone, that changes my words all the time as well

Agreed. Also because Cullen would presumably take some soldiers along.
Sending Leliana in by herself just seems like a plan that could not possibly end well.
Possibly the quest changes a bit depending who you send.
Though I don't think the quest is Dorian-related. Darrah said it happens after a series of branching events in the mage-templar war. It seems it'll be a critical path mentioned by Darrah, about this plot.
I think companions, since they're related to certain plots, will give a better hindsight if brought along in those quests. I wonder though if not bringing Dorian will cause problems though.
I wonder if the companions will actually tell us if they feel that they'd be the best option to bring along. For example, we're in the war room looking at the quests and Dorian would pipe up and say "well, that's my old teacher and I know how he works. I'd like to come along, please" rather than us guessing and missing out on important companion related info.

Leliana would beat up Cullen in a fight.
Allow me to rephrase: Sending any single individual in alone just seems like a plan that could not possibly end well.
It's not a comment on any particular character's prowess or lack thereof. ![]()
From that interview:
"You must also send operatives from your party of playable characters to embark on missions on your behalf--and these won't always go down as planned. In my demo, a party member is sent to go undercover and infiltrate a Mage stronghold. Unfortunately, by the time the player's party arrives to mop up, said party member has been captured and is being tortured. We recover her, but she (understandably) has developed a hatred for Mages--so, during a crucial interaction with the stronghold's Mage leader, she has little patience for words, and goes on a murderous rampage of revenge. Would this have played out differently had another party member been sent in her stead? Oh, yes--or so I'm told. Seeing as Dragon Age: Inquisition is packed with moments like these, I can't wait to see what else is in store."
That's really interesting! So it sounds like in some cases we can maybe send the advisors to scout ahead and deal with the problem. I wonder what would happen if we sent Cullen in to deal with that ball Empress Celene is holding? I imagine it would go pretty badly, LOL!
... I like that idea! Consider that head canoned!
I guess maybe it could symbolise bravery? Or that he puts on this big brave exterior but inside he's really as soft as... mashed potato? Or he just really likes lions?
Light and fluffy mashed potatoes or ones with small little lumps? <<< These nitty gritty bits are important pieces of information ![]()
Right now, I'm going with it symbolizing him being our military Adviser/Advisor. I would like it to symbolize something more significant than that, something that;s personal to him, but I just don't have a clue what it could be. Definitely something to maul over.........yes, that was a lion pun

That would be handy. It would also be interesting if they said they weren't the best option for a mission. (For example, something requiring being sneaky and Cullen suggests it's not really his area of expertise.) The Inquisitor could decide whether this made sense or not and choose accordingly.
It just seems more realistic to me that not every character would jump at every mission.
It's definitely Cullen, Cameron Lee confirmed it.
Twitter or on here?
Do we get to hear him roar?
I want to tease him about this.
I can see why they've been tight lipped about the advisers. I mean, they aren't your typical companion and they're also the 3 pillars of the Inquisition (then of course there's Cullen who's also romanceable) so I would imagine that they'd want to cover the adviser thing at a later date. Still, some decent pictures of them and a blurb about their personalities wouldn't hurt!
Just a name, that's all I ask ;A;

Well that gives me a different out-look on things. But my inquisitor wants to dance with him at said ball..........
I just hope sending Cullen in wouldn't lead to his being captured and tortured instead. Last thing the poor guy needs, after all he's been through.
There would be so much hell to pay from my Inquisitor if someone hurt Cullen!

Yeah, that would be pretty sad if we get locked out of something like that... Although I'd probably force Iron Bull to dance with me for a laugh!

Sounds like it would play out completely differently depending on who you send along. Chances are we'd get there and Cullen would have had their heads off hours before we'd even arrived, LOL!
Omfg xD
I must tease Cullen about this!
I get the feeling the mission may play out differently if you take a different approach.
Like, maybe when we get the initial mission we have choices on whether to do it immediately or hold it off until we're ready, or send Leliana in with better equipment, more people, etc.
Similar to when we prepared Vigil's Keep in Awakening.
Very much in love with it. That brief shot of him the trailer was made far more dramatic because of it imo. It's very striking and unique and caught pretty much everyones attention, so much more iconic than your bog standard helm.
Plus it made him look a complete badass imo. That never hurts right?
absolutely.
I friggin' love that helmet with a passion. it's So beautiful and detailed and fierce! when he turned around to face the camera i literally gasped. and this is before i even realized it was cullen. ![]()
when i did realize it was cullen..i was...newly smitten. and it just made me feel like the da crew treated the character respectfully. they showed respect with that-imo. not that they wouldn't show all their char.s respect....i mean it made it feel to me like Cullen was not the red headed step child anymore.
*and i want that helm for myself, but i'm pretty sure cullen does not want to dress all "same-sy" and matching. we'll burn the horde of demons w/our blindingly cute couple-y matchiness until they're a giant pile of "D'aww
"
no. so i will concede the helm to him. ![]()

Oh my god, the worst thing to happen to him would be to get tortured by mages ![]()
Oh my god, the worst thing to happen to him would be to get tortured by mages
I'd kinda like to see that, just because I know I'd be like "GET YOUR FILTHY MITTS OFF HIM!!! RAWR!!!" But I think he'd know how to handle them, he'd been a Templar for years so he'd know better than to go in there without being fully prepared. Maybe instead we'd walk in to find him kicking some major arse.
Oh my god, the worst thing to happen to him would be to get tortured by mages
Yeah, exactly. I think that would be a hard one for him to come back from.
There are very few things that would cause my Inquisitor to completely lose it and go on a revenge rampage, but this would be high on the list. Whether or not she gets to romance him, whether or not he even likes her as a colleague, no one hurts Cullen!
