I am not surprised by possible race restrictions. The minute I heard they were using another game engine...all bets were off.
It was easy to see that Inquisition would not be like Origins or DA2. And yes, it sucks but people will adapt despite being initially put off by it

Annnd... it took me a few minutes to catch the meaning behind "pitching the tent". Slow brain is slow. 
To me sexuality restrictions were already enough, to push restrictions further and even made them uneven to races and gender is to me like: "you have to play character like this, you can't play the one you want to lol!" I joked about that earlier today but in reality I don't want that. I plan my characters in advance and romances are big part of that as well. This means I have to plan character around Cullen, Cass and possibly Dorian, I can't play what I like and just romance someone with them. So I'm really.. ugh little angry about this at the moment. Although many devs try to make it seems like romances are very optional and small part of BW games.. they aren't for many players.
Sigh this just means I can't plan my characters until I have full information about romance restrictions.

I personally don't mind the options not being exactly balanced so long as every race/gender combination at least as one straight and gay option. I'm sure they've made sure of that, at least, though.

Writing fanfic has kinda wired my brain to look at how to work with restrictions, I think, because all of it just gets me more pumped.
Sure, I'm a little sad that Cullen probably isn't going to be into Ashtal, but that's the risk of building up expectations! (I know this moment. Joker.... [SHAKES FIST TO THE SKY]) Now I'm just holding Ashtal in my hands and poking through all the other characters, wondering who she'd fit with best. Varric? Could be fun! The Iron Bull? Differing thoughts on the Qun, but that could make for great drama.
And Cullen! Oh, look at all these other characters I can use! Dalish mage who doesn't like humans! Tee-hee! Human rogue? Ha! Gaider didn't mention class restrictions, so I think that's a good sign for those of us who were worried about that.

I agree. It means we are getting our money's worth for this game. As much as I enjoyed DA2....it was NOT worth the $60 I paid for it.

I was thinking the same. Most likely Varric, Sera and the Iron Bull. Varric says in DA2 that he is not into humans, Sera was said to be into everything elven/ immersed in her elven heritage) and IB wants people who can handle his size.

My main concern is that there are four female characters who could be or are LI's, and three of them are human, and the one that isn't is gay. Will one of them not be into other humans, or will none of the female LI's be gated that way?
For the male characters, they could have more variety there. Varric is only into dwarves, the Iron Bull isn't into elves or dwarves, Cullen doesn't like qunari-- There's more there to fiddle with. I know one thing, however:

That's true. Hopefully my Dwarf inquisitor could help him move on. 
I know those pictures are really far away, but Cullen actually looks a lot like his DA2 model in them!
