Yeah, I'm currently trying to make as much tofu as I possible can right now, but it's a bit tedious. Then again, I don't want to have to be homeless! I'm terrified of getting mugged so I'm putting all my cash in the bank at night.

That they've been showing her off so much does give me hope, but I can't help but wonder if it's just because she's the first non returning companion they revealed.

Or at least go with me. Gotta go stop that wedding! Vivi, (named her after Vivienne), better not be with someone hotter than me!

Going back to that gif Gala just posted up, he actually looks and feels like Cullen now... Not that he didn't before but we hadn't seen him move until these latest two trailers, and that little animation of him rubbing his neck is just very "Cullen". He feels right now.

Don't think so. The assassin one was about the OCW and finding a compromise. Vivienne's seems to throw a party specifically for us.
Plus, I think the assassin party might be in a mid-late part of the game, while Vivienne's should be early.

True,but the real question is how fabulous our inquisitor will get to be...Or whether we'll be  able to dance with Cullen!
If he's there and refuses,I'll probably have my quizy drag him to the dance floor a la final fantasy. xD

Yep, I gave a lady happy pills and she invited me back to her place. It was weird.
Ah yeah, I got a lift with that guy too. Seeing as you named her Vivi, I'm happy to admit I named my guy Cullen. See, I am on topic! Context? Who needs that!

I was just, oh she looks like me, except with black hair, she might be interesting, let's toast with her, let's bring her with me. I didn't realise till much later I'd chosen to be Asian lesbian! I thought I'd get like a proper CC.

It threw me off too, but luckily I spoke to the one who looked like me, because I'm shallow like that but then I get called a trashy blonde. Maybe it's easier to program in the reactivity and stuff if the characters are fixed? (How about we continue this in PM when we both get further in? That sounded better in my head).

I have a hard time creating characters out of thin air because of the way I set it up. If I want to make a new origins game, fine I can do that. DA2? Nope. Not unless I have a Origins game to be its "history". So with DAI, I had to get word documents to write down the history for each of my canons. The wardens history, hawkes, and then I plan out the inquisitors. Basing my characters off of romances just gives me a starting point for my characters. I've had to make up a bunch new wardens and hawkes just to fit all the inquisitors. It's weird, I know.

 

English isn't my first language, so bear with me. But here is how it works for me to create a character out of thin air.

 

Let's take DAO for instance:

I started with a female mage. When I got to the character creator, I played around with the different options and finally ended up with a very young woman. So I thought:

"Well, she is young and probably unexperienced. I imagine that she hasn't seen much of world yet. Probably never had a boyfriend."

And that was my starting point. Then I added more personality to the character by asking more questions like: When and how did she find out about her magical abilities? Was she scared? How did her parents react? Are they close?

After I had played the game for a little bit, I had more information about the world, so I could adjust my characters background:

She was probably brought to the tower at a very young age and wouldn't remember her parents very well. Eager to see the world. So, when Duncan wanted to recruit her for the Grey Wardens, she wanted to go, of course, and was glad about the opportunity to join them. And more of her personality showed when she met Alistair and Morrigan. With Alistair she could relate, because both were not raised by their parents. So he was something like a kindred spirit. Morrigan was more like a counterpart, but she made my character question her education, the circle of mages and the whole system. That's how the character developed. And so on.

 

Since I knew nothing about the game world and the characters (companions, NPCs) in it, any in advance created PC might not have been right. My own background story might not have been "compatible" with the game world. And as for Inquisition, we still don't know that much about the story, so I'm sure it will work again to create a character out of thin air. It worked for me in DA2, too. After all, I find this rather inspiring.

 

I am just a little bit surprised that so many people plan in advance. Not just in this thread, but in others as well.  It would probably ruin some of the fun for me. On the other hand, I don't mind to play predefined characters. I loved The Witcher. So maybe I should give it a go in my second playthrough of Inquisition.    

 

And I'm sorry about the wall of text. Didn't know how to say it shorter.
