I quite liked Cullen as a character in DAO and DA2, so I'm happy to see him returning. I'll be interested to see which direction Bioware takes him for DAI.
I can definitely see myself trying out his romance, whether he's a companion or not.

Sooooo I've been pondering this whole 'angst in his future' thing and couldn't help but wonder... What if Cullen Approaches your Inquisitor with a lead about who his parents are, and that he wishes for you to go with him to find them. Only, it turns out that when you do, you find out his mother is a mage in one of the towers and was made tranquil. How do you think that would affect him seeing his mother in that state? :0 #bored/randomness

That feels like another Alistair finding his bitchy sister...I don't think they'll do that again, but if they do, honestly at this point I don't think Cullen can be affected by negative emotions anymore. Everything he knows is a lie. Mages are bad, Templars are good, cake, all a lie. He's at a point where every negative emotion just feels numb...kinda like whenever they kill a character in Game of Thrones...its all just numb to me now :3

Oh, wow. Just reading that was a kick to the gut.  I do agree with Jynx, though, that it's very close to Alistair's quest, though.

Before would really amp up the tragedy. Just imagine - made tranquil because of evil blood magic stuff, then ends up pregnant with unknown evil templar's child. How's that for a kick in the pants? Both parents bad. Cullen good, he's the anti-anti-christ.
