The two first RPG games I ever Played was Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, and Diablo and that was when I was very young, maybe around 10-12. Anyway, those being the games I was brought up on I was so excited to get Diablo 3 and even though I did enjoy playing, it just wasn't up to par for me because BioWare has spoiled me so much with me being able to immerse myself into their games............. playing other RPG's just isn't the same.
For sure! After I finished DA:O and DA2 I started playing Skyrim and The Witcher 2 looking for other RPGs to fill the gap whilst waiting for ME3 and DAI to come out. It just didn't cut it for me, and whilst I did enjoy The Witcher 2 it wasn't the same because Geralt is already a character in his own right, so you can't build your own from scratch... and Skyrim just felt very paper thin to me.
Where BioWare gets it right (in my opinion) is having such character-centric (and in more recent years protagonist-centric) story arcs within their RPGs. It also plays into the whole team work "a group of strangers stumble upon each other, have a grand adventure and become friends" trope that I've always adored in any form of media... probably because I've never really found a good group of solid loyal friends that don't screw you over in real life, LOL!
