Hi Cullen fans. Was wondering if anyone would like to briefly describe the reasons for Cullen's popularity.
Just looking for enlightenment, because I have always been verrrrry surprised by the extent of his popularity and don't quite understand it. I played the games (as a mage, too lol) I know who he is, and read the FAQ for this thread, but I'm curious to understand what it is about him that is apparently so loveable.
I just don't see it, but when I see all of you guys I feel like I'm missing out on something lol?? Thanks in advance.
For me (and I think it seems the case for a lot of us here) in DA:O, I was intrigued but not interested, if that makes any sense. I thought his crush on my PC was sweet, but I never gave him much thought beyond 'the pink cage guy', especially since I was utterly smitten with Alistair by that point!
Then in DA2, I got interested. In a game where many of the mages seemed psychotic and the Templars were either inhuman (Alric) or pushovers (Emeric), Cullen was refreshingly...human I guess. He had doubts and fears about what he was doing, and sometimes he crossed the boundaries of what my PCs felt was morally acceptable (his early opinions of mages, for example) yet I never felt he was unjustified for what he felt, after what happened in DA:O. When act 3 rolled around, I honestly cheered when he stood up to Meredith. For me, by that point, Cullen symbolises what the Templars should be, knowing what both sides are capable of, yet working to bring peace between them, and above all protecting the innocent (I have a thing for Lawful characters) Then I found this forum and people were thinking along the same lines as me (I've lurked here for a long time

) so I don't know, it kinda blossomed from that too.
There are a bunch of other reasons too (like tall, blond and handsome being a preference of mine

) but I won't get into them now. Plus, most of this comes from speculation and stuff, so I completely get why some people don't like him or are neutral towards him.
