Already? It's only June 13th! lol
Lol no I mean start school officially. Step-son is 5 in October and daughter has just turned 2, but I have no doubt that after a week of school holidays I will be feeling exactly the same

So I've been thinking about the recently described "race restrictions" per the romances in DAI. A friend of mine was arguing, that that could leave us restricted to Cullen with only a human Qwizzy. But I disagreed, reminding her that he was just as enchanted with a Surana as he was an Amell in Origins.
Which left us arguing about which one of the characters might have "race restrictions" and she started naming them like it was a list -- "Dorian with humans only but Sera with elves and..." I finally held up a hand and said:
"I think it'll be more about your own PC, rather. Even DG said you would need to pick your Qwizzy with some care, because one character may have restrictions that another doesn't. So some romance arcs may not even open .. so no <flirt> choice that shows during convo with that companion .. depending on your character. That means it's not necessarily your companion you have to worry about. If you want to romance whoever, then create a Qwizzy your companion will be attracted to."
Personally, I think the entire issue of "race" in the game makes for some chance at even more romance arcs. Because some companion characters may suddenly become romance-able, if only your PC is that particular race the companion character "likes". I kinda like that idea, actually. Maybe I'll make a dwarf Qwizzy if Varic only swings with dwarf girls, lol.
Still planning on going in there with an Elven Qwizzy for Cullen to adore, fingers crossed.
I'm of several minds about the racial restrictions for the romances. I started out being of two minds about it, but I found that wasn't enough.
On the one hand, BioWare's racial restrictions have sometimes been harsh. I really wanted to run a half-orc paladin wanna-be in BG2, but Anomen isn't into half-orcs, so there's that idea, out the window. Anomen was the only LI available to female protagonists, and the romance was not quite an afterthought, but more of an experiment. I don't think they realized that women would actually play the game, so they didn't really integrate the content as well as they could have. In the romance panel discussion at the Gaymer conference in Australia last year, DG said that he was informed that Anomen would be the male romance... which came as a bit of a surprise to him, because he'd written the character as being a bit of a jerk. I adore Anomen, mind you, at least in part because he is a bit of a jerk, but yeah, he is two completely different people depending upon whether he's romanced or not. But anyway, the romance was not available to dwarves or half-orcs, and that was a shame. (Not that I rolled many dwarven females. They used the bearded, bald male dwarf animation, and that was off-putting.)
On another hand, they kind of force me to do multiple playthroughs in order to experience all the content. Twist that rubber arm! I mean, I was going to do multiple playthroughs anyway, but this adds even more incentive.
*And* racial restrictions have the potential to reduce the jealous snarking of rejected suitors. After all, if Iron Bull is the only character interested in a qunari protagonist, party banter stands to be a lot more placid...
But I like the jealous snarking. Sad, but true. I hope that every protagonist will have at least two choices available, because I'd like to hear at least a little "S/He likes me best!"
I have kids, my daughter and my step-son..................... I love them but can't wait for them so start school

Mom: So, how much money is the Collector's Edition?

Mom: ...100?
Me: *points up*
Mom: How much?!
Me: 169 plus shipping.
Mom: Holy ****! For what system?!
Me: *grins* PS4.
Mom: YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE THE PS4.
Me: Yet.
Mom: D: You'll have money to help me pay bills right?!
Me: Of course!
Mom: Oh thank God.
Me: I also bought the game guide.
Mom: @#&$!

And over another game:
Mom: So, did you finish the game?
Me: Yep. It was kinda sad, though.
Mom: Aw, why? It wasn't like ME3 was it?
Me: First, how dare you bring that up. Second, no.
Mom: Then why was it sad?
Me: My romance option said he'd never marry again, but he gained a hoard of concubines.
Mom: *laughs* So he loved you for all eternity, but also f****d for all eternity?
Me: LOL
She's excited for us to have Cullen - at least for me to shut up about the guy. XD

Definitely this. Although I fear we might be headcanoning here... but I see his faith as being very steadfast.
I think he might one of those who still believe's in the Order but think it should change after all this
I'm almost scared to ask what that game was...
Bound by Flame.
I can't believe the dwarven warrior demo is gone now. I've got proper internet right now and can watch whatever I want but noooooo. Le sigh.
Preeetty sure it wasn't supposed to be posted in the first place. ![]()

It was posted to the forums a few days back. Had a Male Dwarf Warrior Inquisitor, and the Iron Bull, Sera, and Vivienne in the party. Saw that the Iron Bull had the Reaver specialization. OH! Also showed a bit of companion armor. Not much, no real explanation, but the armor does have unique looks when placed on the companions. (They used the Iron Bull specifically. They equipped on him a piece of armor that covered his entire chest, which had been practically bare-looking prior.)
Aaaah... there's probably way more I'm missing.

For me, the main thing was Sera's Lancashire accent. Pretty random.
So, with IB being a reaver, is anyone else disappointed that it doesn't look like companions will have their own unique talent trees as in DA2?
A little. That said, it does mean that the companions can't outshine your rogue archer with their own stupid archery specialization.
...Ah-hem.
I am, special talent trees were an awesome feature. For me, the main thing was Sera's Lancashire accent. Pretty random.

Random side note. Does anyone else want more nature spells in the game, like the keeper specialization in DA:A , that have to to with controlling vines, roots, thorns etc.

Actually, I will like it better if they don't, to be honest. But I'm weird.
Yeah, though it seems unlikely we'll get them. If they are in, they may be in the elemental tree, which I'm assuming is where the Primal spells of DA2 got relegated to.
