Romance "issues" always raise intense discussions, agressivity sometimes, even from the very persons who argue "c'mon do as I please, it's just a game!".
Well, if it's "just a game", why the angriness ? why the frustration ? it's just a game !
Anyway, I prefer to avoid debatting romances. All I wanna know is if the 1st inquisitor I plan to create will go along with Cullen. I like surprises but I would be veeeerrry disappointed to learn that romancing him is impossible after 20hours of game.
I can totally understand the frustration. I mean, I know I laugh and joke about people throwing tantrums, but you should've seen me with those original ME3 endings... my gawd, if that wasn't a blatant display of self entitled gamer then I dunno what was! Granted, it was an over reaction due to circumstances in my life at the time, I'd played ME3 to make me feel better only to end up feeling worse, lol. But whatever, it's ancient history.
I do feel for people that get their hopes up to romance a certain character only to have them dashed though, especially if they'd been waiting months/years to get hold of this guy/girl and had this great head canon and protagonist all planned out ready, only to discover that he/she won't be interested, lol. Hell, Cullen is a great example of this, how gutted would we have been if he hadn't made it into the game in a big way, or if he hadn't been romanceable? I know I wouldn't have been a happy bunny... in fact, when I joined the Cullen thread I distinctly recall saying that if he wasn't then I'd "give up on BioWare games altogether" LOL! ... I like to think I've grown up a lot since then, but my point is that I know how they're feeling and I do sympathise.
What I don't agree with, however, is them being rude to the devs/writers just because they chose to write a character/situation in a certain way that doesn't fulfill what that person wanted, and while I'd be a little sad if Cullen was a male only romance (because I wouldn't be able to romance him with my me!Inquisitor LOL) I'd respect and appreciate that they'd taken the time to develop his character and personality enough to actually give him different preferences, not just surrounding gender/race/class but also the other aspects of his personality that we'll get to explore and experience. I'd just make a really hot male Inquisitor and swoon a lot during the m/m romance scene, LOL!
