The class-gate was just an example of what may happen within my first playthrough, if Cullen refuses to romance a mage. It's probably unlikely given the other restrictions, but you never know.

 

I prefer to play organically too. I'm in a tricky situation where I have to follow all the news for my videos, which means sometimes I find out more about the story than I wanted too, case in point that demo where the devs explained the plot and situation surrounding Leliana's capture etc.

As much as I joke about you knowing all the things, in the end I wouldn't want your job for that very simple reason. It's going to be very difficult for you to go in 'organically' given all the info that's starting to come out. I want to be surprised, shocked, even angry at being rejected for choosing the wrong race/class/gender. Nothing beats Alistair putting the kibosh on my elven mage! (RELOAD!  ) I really don't think I want much more info once all of the followers are revealed and we finally get to see Cullen's glorious visage.

Yeah, I'm hoping for no more story spoilers, although I get why they explained that plotline for the demo and if that article was correct then it also gave us some insight into the fact that we can pick from and send in different characters/advisors to deal with certain situations, each resulting in a different outcome.

I hope so. It would make sense to take some humans from them though. For example Dorian is from Tevinter and Tevinter has been in war with qunari ages.. he might not like qunaris because of this. He has probaply heard lot of war propaganda how monstrous beings qunari are and how they can't be seen as "humans" ^^; Then Cullen has had bad experience with qunaris too so lore-wise it would make sense to have these two limited from qunaris. There might be something like: Iron Bull and Cass for qunari players, Varric and Cass for dwarf players as options. But it's hard to know at this point, I just hope they keep race-gating as minium as they can.

He might be from Tevinter and he might be a magister, but he doesn't seem to buy into any of the bulk the other magisters/leaders of his country are selling. And he's sick of what those men and ladies are doing turning Tevinter into the 'bad guy'. 

 

So he seems likely to recognise that you can't blame one person born outside the Qun for what the qunari who follow the Qun are doing.

Well, once he's out of the way at least we'll start getting new ones. Even Leliana is intriguing, since we don't know how her side of the Inquisition was formed or why. In theory, if they go into detail about how she came to have a spy faction etc then we'll have a rough idea of Cullen's too, especially if they say that the Divine put her in charge of her particular faction. I'm hoping her interview with the writer will explain roughly why she isn't with the Warden if you romanced her.

Well this might be very true ^^ I hope that most of LI's are willing to look over bad reputations of qunaris as well

Ya, the little writer / follower interviews are great! And I don't necessarily mind revealing the revealed but I'd much rather hear about the noobs. Which is probably why they're dangling those carrots in front of us. Keep 'em wanting more!

And yes, I understand peoples' frustrations when it comes to the romance stuff.  I've been wanting to romance Cullen for a long time now, and i always play straight female characters because I am one on real life (and I'm boring).  So if they announced him as suddenly gay I would definitely have an moment of  "oh, god, Bioware, how could you? HOW COULD YOU!!??" But I'd get over it, and if I have to play a gay male to have Cullen I will play the malest, gayest character EVER.

 

But yeah, i think it's people being outright rude or hostile that irks me.  I mean, here's these people who have dedicated years of their lives working on this thing only to have some so-called fan tell them it's worthless because they can't bone Varric as a male qunari or whatever.  An then all the complaints about people's hair, or apparently complaining just to complain.  I think that's why i like this thread so much.  Happy places rock!

Though I'd prefer to hear about someone new, the mini-interviews are cool.  The character creation stuff is definitely what I found most interesting about the whole game development process and it's fun to see that bit of insight from the writers.

To be honest,the whole restriction thing doesn't really bother me because I tend rp in all my playthroughs and give my characters set personalities,except from my test self-insert playthrough,where I make decisions according to my RL personality and usually tend to choose things like class and race,at the last minute.

So even if the character I planned get's rejected It's still an event in the game that will urge them evolve in a particular way even if it's not the way I planned,it will have an impact on their personality and how they viewed some things until this experience.According to their personalities others will just shrug it off while others will be more upset about it.

What I wouldn't like though,is if the race restriction in particular won't allow the characters in question,who possibly have them, to evolve.I wouldn't like for example a character that is prejudiced again a particular race to not be given the chance to overcome it.If the matter is only physical attraction,then I don't think I'd mind that much.

Still,I understand people who would be upset because they won't get the chance to romance their preferred LI with the character they want.We all play our game differently,after all. 

I also think it'll be Varric the one revealed tonight or maybe Dorian.

Maybe mention them but save the in depth look for the separate video? And in the mean time maybe you can get a round about time line from one of the devs if you let them know why you're asking... it's marketing for them. Win/win!

That sounds like the best option, I'd LOVE a video dedicated to the companions only. Since you're already under a NDA, I'm sure they wouldn't have to worry about you telling when all the companions will be revealed either.

Hey, I thought of something today.

Let's assume Cullen wants to restore the Circle (because we know he does/says something that will make us either love him or hate him, and Circle is one of those divisive things). He probably wants it reformed, because he saw that it doesn't work the way it should. Now imagine that the Inquisitor is a mage, and Cullen falls in love with her/him. The was no place for such relationship in the Circle system before! So maybe Cullen's relationship with mage!Quisitor will make him consider pushing the reforms even further than he originally intended? Like, to allow mages and templars to have families, even with each other. What if Cullen's love for mage!Quisitor will make him fight for that? It may actually change the outcome of the game! Or at least of some quests. It may change the way Cullen thinks about how the world should be!

Yeah, to be honest, I was initially really disappointed when I learned we couldn't be a City Elf, but after reworking my Elidri, I think she's much more interesting Dalish as she was as a City Elf. So I'll be reworking any character to fit their ideal LI, of they become available, or perhaps scrapping them altogether and going for a newer, better looking character those picky LIs will actually like.

Oh and my money's on Varric today, and Dorian tomorrow, if they continue it. Then Solas then Cole.

Hard to say, I mean, he's part of the Inquisition now and that's not gonna go away any time soon. It could be that he'd rather concentrate on his role within that instead, especially if things are done a lot more ethically in general than his experiences within the Templar Order.

So, I literally just spent two hours typing up a huge response to someone in MD's comment section on her Cameron Lee interview just to answer why "girls" love Cullen so much (AGAIN!)

 

The guy was kinda rude with the whole "girls only like him because... but I find that stupid because.... he's a minor character and I hate Templars blah blah blah". I literally only responded because he said "I'm kinda scared that AbilityDrain will come in here and hand my arse to me, I know she's a huge Cullen fan!"

 

Couldn't resist, LOL!
