Hey, I thought of something today.

Let's assume Cullen wants to restore the Circle (because we know he does/says something that will make us either love him or hate him, and Circle is one of those divisive things). He probably wants it reformed, because he saw that it doesn't work the way it should. Now imagine that the Inquisitor is a mage, and Cullen falls in love with her/him. The was no place for such relationship in the Circle system before! So maybe Cullen's relationship with mage!Quisitor will make him consider pushing the reforms even further than he originally intended? Like, to allow mages and templars to have families, even with each other. What if Cullen's love for mage!Quisitor will make him fight for that? It may actually change the outcome of the game! Or at least of some quests. :) It may change the way Cullen thinks about how the world should be!

Mmmmh, that his love for a mage inquisitor makes him question the mages condition, or question his own position as a templar (provided he still is a templar of some sort and wishes to rebuild the order) , I'm perfectly ok with that. But to imagine templars and mages living happy in the Circle, making babies together, and all, that sounds too romantic and too "happy end" for me. :)

For me a templar + mage romance has to be a bit dramatic. And their relationship can only exist to the price of personal sacrifices.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I want my inquisitor to struggle to romance Cullen. I want him to try his absolute hardest to avoid confronting the fact he has feelings for her, I want him to wrestle with it and torment himself with it until he can't take any more

Talk about making things difficult for oneself but I think it would be so much more worth it, feel like a very real conquest

Yeah, in the only mage/templar romance we've really seen so far (Rhys/Evangeline) the templar literally left the order and hooked up with the mage rebellion. I'd like to see a templar who sticks to his/her convictions despite falling for a mage. Striving for improvement within the circle system, but still firm in his/her belief that the circle is still necessary. And if the time comes, they are willing to sacrifice,  and put duty ahead of love.

Me too! I think I just really like the idea of actually seeing his strength of will break for the Inquisitor, especially since he was able to fight off temptation from the demons and stuff, LOL!

I actually wonder if by the end of the game we'll be able to influence what happens to some of the companions and advisors. Like, perhaps for all Leliana's work she might have the option of becoming the Divine (a bit far fetched, but whatever), or like with Kaidan in ME3 we could recruit him or send him off to do his work as a spectre instead, or like Sebastian where we could encourage him to take his rightful place as a Prince, or stay as a brother with the Chantry.

I love a character who plays hard to get  it's all about the chase for me, and as sadistic as I am I love the idea of pushing people til they break, as I've said before. Especially as you've said with such a strong character, someone who has never broken before. So fulfilling

P.S. If you get a chance, would you mind accepting me to the safe haven group pretty please? Having seen what some of the other threads have got like on reveals I think I may need it  sanity is necessary, if not always fun.

I'm still on the mind that the mage-templar war won't end in DAI, though here were hints about finishing it in this game.

Even if we save the world together, I don't think that drama will be over. I'm kinda surprised that we haven't been (or won't be going to) Tevinter yet. I don't feel Kirkwall was representative of what things are actually like over there. Part of the reason I'm interested in talking with Dorian is to find out more about the whole situation.

Of course, who knows what will happen in this story. Sandal's prophecy could come true. What if, suddenly everyone had magic. That would certainly turn Thedas on its head.

What would Cullen do if he actually got magic?! Well, at least he probably wouldn't have to take lyrium any more ...

I think that we might be able to stop the mage/templar problems in Thedas, but there will still be a lot of other social and moral dilemmas remaining :) I think its quite commonly thought that DA4 might deal with the Qunari invasion, and I think that would be a fascinating story to tackle, broaching peace, or fighting to the death, banding countries together by force or diplomacy :)

I suspect we can stop the Mage/Templar war itself, at least for the time being, but the fighting will continue for as long as the Templars still exist. I'm not even sure what the mages will do once free? I'm concern that they'll all go a bit wild for and create havoc just because they've been locked up for so long, lol.

I don't know why it's doing that, sometimes they pop up and other times they don't. Maybe I ballsed up the settings whilst making it secure?

It would be like a magical hen party

EDIT: I really am sitting here with the image of tons of scantily dressed mages on a furious booze cruise around Thedas leaving piles of scorched earth and the odd pregnant villager in their wake

Who wants to place bets on the character reveal tonight?

My guess: Varric.

If Varric's reveal is coupled with a announcement he's an LI, I'm totally fine.

On the other hand, I think Varric is going to be very different from how he was in DA2. For one, I think he won't be a forever companion--I think you'll be able to drive him away this time, which will make for a very interesting dynamic. I want to hear more about why Varric left Kirkwall, after saying so often that he hates to go outside the city. I want to know what he's doing, what his motivation is, can I roll a dwarf to bang--I mean hang with him.

Solas is pretty likely, because it's been quite the drought since we've heard about it, but, if I had to put money down, Dorian makes the most sense. At E3, the demo was tied to his character and his past, and they revealed his name (only his first name, mind you). It makes sense to reveal Dorian's character now, while the hype for his character is still rolling.

But Varric is my second guess, with Solas in third.

I'm also concerned that some might be bitter and try to take over Thedas in the same way that Tervinter treats it's non-magical people.

If I decide to play mage, this would be an interesting conquest for sure. :D But what would be more interesting for me is that the game makes this relationship very hard to  keep... That there's strong possibilities that Cullen decides to leave the mage at some point of the game, or at the end...

There will always be a few spoil sports

Just as long as their leader sits stroking a nug whilst giving orders

May I also request this? I tried to enter and it gave me the "you must be invited" message. Secondary question, do you think this thread or that one will be more spoilerfull?

Ooooh that would be mean though :( all those years of waiting just for Cullen to turn around at the end and say "It's been real, but I just don't see this working out" to our broken-hearted mages.

That is beyond cruel... unless they get forced to by a terrible twist of fate, Mage!Quisitor getting dragged away to the circle whilst Cullen looks on, resuming his duty meaning more to him than the Inquisitor...

Nope, still cruel :(

Oh, I totally wouldn't be surprised if he did pull a stunt like that, not just on mage Inquisitors but any class, lol. You know what BioWare are like!
