It did!!! It was quite lighter, I was surprised! Especially to hear it from a dwarf LOL The guy just sounds so overtly and melodramatically masculine in the trailers, it makes me roll my eyes and feel like I have to play some bowed up action star to match that voice. Thank god that seems to not be the case!!!

Yeah, I think he purposely made his voice more dramatic for the trailers-- or maybe not even purposely, but it could have been a subconscious decision. It's a trailer, and that seems to automatically equal 'dramatic!' I know in the first trailer we heard him speak, I thought he was putting on a documentary voice.

I don't hate Carver, but I don't love him. I don't love Bethany either, but I relate more to her relationship with Hawke than Carver's. The Hawke/Carver sibling rivalry is just painful to me, and Carver, to use Aveline's term, is just a big ****** lol

   I think (never tried, but I remember reading it was possible), that if you pick a Certain option (don't know if the first, the second or both times), he won't be hardened. The wikia says something similar.
Though I Could very well be wrong, and the wikia isn't perfect.

 

Ah, I see! It might be possible, then. I know it didn't undo his hardening with the dialogue choices I made, though.

I haven't hardened Alistair nor Leliana in any of my playthroughs. I had already played the games couple times through before even knowing it's option from the wiki. After that.. I don't get point of someone growing as person by you telling them how bad people are and how selfish they should be to get somewhere in the life.. that's just not philosophy. Also after reading Stolen Throne, Maric's hardening didn't work good for him I think he would have been lot better king unhardened. Maybe if I ever play DAO again I will try to harden Alistair and Leliana though to see just how different they become.

So far I just have Raleigh for my male human rogue. I did want to name him Devin, but Devin Trevelyan has a strange flow to me.

I know there is a lot of hate out there for Cullen because of his response when the Warden et al freed him from Uldred's emprisonment. He called for all the mages to be killed! I have never found out, what sort of response they would have prefered or indeed expected.

 

If some crazy member of a gang attack your home and killed your friends and family in front of you and tortured you.... would you not be a little miffed at the perpetrators and would you not perhaps tend to generalize your hatred and fear to all members of that gang?  Would you not maybe have a few trust issues with that gang even a few years down the road? Yeesh!

Yes!! My favorites I use a lot of names from Tolkien's works for game characters and often make up my own using his languages. Nothing works better for elves

Yeah, basically only one option leads you to non-hardening him, as far as I know.

Giving myself a new name is part of the point of the experience for me I don't want to be my sh!t self in this awesome world; I wanna be something better!!

 

Haha, that's exactly why my characters are named after me! Lol. I wouldn't say i'm 'shite' (although some people might say that, to hell with them) but that I'd like to be myself in these awesome worlds that (to me) are better, or really just more exciting and fulfilling. Oh youth, why were you wasted with the WRONG dude? I could've done so much! *shakes fist at youth* Sigh. I have named my Shepards/Wardens/Hawkes other names at some point, but I dont think I've finished those playthroughs. Anyways um, yeah. I think I need to get drunk.

Oh, I adore Carver. He is a lil shyte at first, but what I really like abt his arc is how much he grows. That really gets dealt with in a very nice way. The relationship bet Craver and Hawke is able to be mended and grow. But I also love the bit when we first meet Fenris, and even tho we have problems with each other as siblings, Carver makes it very clear that you don't eff w/his sibling. Mage or not. "If you have a problem w/my sister, you have a problem with me." shucks. thnx Bro.

 

Anora I like, too. tho I always end up calling her a ruthless b!tch--right before I crown her. Anora:"is there a reason for all this?" Me: "No, i just wanted to say that." lol!

 

But in the end my wardens are a bit of a ruthless b!tch, too. I mean, they look out for those that can't defend themselves, but Dark Ritual? Yes, Please. That's my girl, Morrigan. Good thinking!.

 

I also like the image of these 3 women getting together and taking the situation into their own hands. The Warden, The Witch, and The Queen.

 

Oh, and Cullen: The thing for me with Cullen is that I always saw him as a Templar first. I never expected him to be a mage lover, or even support their freedom cuz that's not who he is/was. I was not surprised nor felt slighted when he wanted to arrest Hawke at the end of DA2.

 

We were not bff's. He was a Templar, and the only law in that town at that moment. And when he admitted he would have indeed killed my mage Warden if she failed the harrowing--I was not surprised. He even said his duty was to the Chantry and the Maker.

 

He has his own beliefs abt things. I don;t agree with him--when I play pro-mage, that is. But he's spouting exactly what he's been taught. And if I play a pro-templar I'm nodding in agreement with him.

 

(although i connfess doing a pro templar pt is extremely difficult cuz it feels...weird in the end.)
