LOL That would be awesome. Sorcerers can float in Dragon's Dogma... it's very graceful. I imagine her doing something like that.

Haha, that's exactly why my characters are named after me! Lol. I wouldn't say i'm 'shite' (although some people might say that, to hell with them) but that I'd like to be myself in these awesome worlds that (to me) are better, or really just more exciting and fulfilling. Oh youth, why were you wasted with the WRONG dude? I could've done so much! *shakes fist at youth* Sigh. I have named my Shepards/Wardens/Hawkes other names at some point, but I dont think I've finished those playthroughs. Anyways um, yeah. I think I need to get drunk.

 

That's another reason why I like to do self-inserts (man, that sounds dodgy!) My life is infinitely boring these days, and I don't have much of a friendship group to speak of in real life on account of picking some real douche bags as friends and then having to ditch the majority of them after realising that they were fair weather friends of total scumbags, lol... so, I guess the idea of being this big goddamn hero with the perfect body and awesome friends that are willing to go into the heat of battle with you is just a nice little escape from real life... especially when BioWare don't kill off my bloody protagonists!

I know there is a lot of hate out there for Cullen because of his response when the Warden et al freed him from Uldred's emprisonment. He called for all the mages to be killed! I have never found out, what sort of response they would have prefered or indeed expected.

 

If some crazy member of a gang attack your home and killed your friends and family in front of you and tortured you.... would you not be a little miffed at the perpetrators and would you not perhaps tend to generalize your hatred and fear to all members of that gang?  Would you not maybe have a few trust issues with that gang even a few years down the road? Yeesh!

 

I think that people often forget that these characters are pretty human, they aren't superheroes who are always written as reasonable and without strong feelings effecting them at times. And Cullen's request makes sense after what he has seen happening, he just fears it will continue if those mages aren't stopped and because of his bad experience he's colder towards innocents at the moment. His views changed a lot in the Kirkwall's circle where he thought innocent cannot be killed just because they might be dangerous.

 

I see this same happening sometimes with Alistair and Sebastian, people are mad at their response in sparing Loghain and Anders without trying to understand their reasonings and emotions in the moment ^^;

To be fair, my comic! Cullen has been a daddy for only a couple of hours, and they don't know if the kid will be a mage, because she's only 6. Anyway, Cullen feels responsible for her, especially because he knows her mother may die soon, and then he will have to take care of the child. There are other reasons too, like that he really likes the girl, and he wants her to be a part of his life.
I think despite the lion thing, Cullen is more a Stark type. So he wouldn't just father a child and forget about it. He would at least try to support the mother, if staying together was not an option. Or to adopt the child if she can't take care of it.

hey lola, i was reading abt your friends and all that in your one post. it really reminded of this quote from Tyler Perry's "Madea" character. It's a great quote. it was in response to somebody in the story wondering what she should do now that her friends and lover went all spazz:

I put everybody that comes into my life in the category of a tree. Some people are like leaves on a tree. When the wind blows, they're over there... wind blow that way they over here... they're unstable. When the seasons change they wither and die, they're gone. That's alright. Most people are like that, they're not there to do anything but take from the tree and give shade every now and then. That's all they can do. But don't get mad at people like that, that's who they are. That's all they were put on this earth to be. A leaf.

Some people are like a branch on that tree. You have to be careful with those branches too, cause they'll fool you. They'll make you think they're a good friend and they're real strong but the minute you step out there on them, they'll break and leave you high and dry.

But if you find 2 or 3 people in your life that's like the roots at the bottom of that tree you are blessed. Those are the kind of people that aren't going nowhere. They aren't worried about being seen, nobody has to know that they know you, they don't have to know what they're doing for you but if those roots weren't there, that tree couldn't live.

A tree could have a hundred million branches but it only takes a few roots down at the bottom to make sure that tree gets everything it needs. When you get some roots, hold on to them but the rest of it... just let it go. Let folks go."

I am going to be so tempted to use the red hart as my dwarf's mount. I hope it looks all cute and small and stocky like the horse when a dwarf is riding it too.

You know how we heard there's a part where you can send some one ahead into the mage area and if you don't show up on time they get captured and tortured. I remember reading that the one from the example was female and she goes on a murderous rampage if the mages there after. Now, guessing from the footage of the trailers I'm gonna say that its Leliana.

Anyways, since we have the choice on who to send, would you send Cullen knowing what he's already been through. Do you think his past will help him in this situation or make it worse?

What do you think would happen should you not show up in time to assist him? What do you think will happen even if you do show up in time?

Maybe he'll flat out refuse to go in the first place. Maybe he will volunteer...

Is anybody turned off by the "whistle and your mount appears" thing? Like, what's your horse doing while you're traveling? Just trotting alongside you? I don't think I'll use a horse if that's the case, and especially if my companions can't follow. Now it might make sense for a Dalish to whistle for his/her halla because they're kind of like the Starks and their direwolves lol it's not a normal animal.

as far as sending cullen, if i had not seen the demo stuff--i think i'd really need to know more context abt the whole mission situation. was it just a blind scouting job of the area to gather intel? or was leli sent on a specific mission? that went bad?

Don't put too much stock into that article, it sounds like they got a lot of it wrong.

 

Basically, (according to other articles and devs) you can send someone to scout ahead and deal with the problem (shown in the demo with Leliana being tortured) however, depending on who you send in depends on the outcome. In Leliana's case, she was the wrong person to send in and she'd gone MIA for a little while, which is why the Inquisitor 'n' co went up there to look for her. So, for example, Cullen may have been the better choice because he's a Templar/ex-Templar and knows how to deal with that sort of thing.

 

I don't think there was a time scale to it though, she was just the wrong choice. Sending Cullen in could still result in him being tortured, but (possibly) when rescuing him and having him keep the hoard back, it would (maybe) end better than it did with Leliana.
