I love *many many* things about DA2. Many. Anders' profile, for one. Cullen, for another. How amazing mage animations are. How EFFING SAD Orsino's giving up (which is what it looks like, when you side with the mages) was for me. I could go on.

OMG LOL! I don't know what DG was on when he wrote the rivalmance for Fenris It's a little S&M at times! I never made it through a full playthrough.

I like the vast majority of DA2! I just hate Act 3. I just think the whole Mage-Templar thing was handled badly. But then again, I don't really find the Mage-Templar debate that interesting anyway.

I liked DA2. I liked the story, I enjoyed the darkness and moral ambiguity throughout, i thought the ending was super gutsy. And i found the templar-mage conflict interesting. I especially loved all those 'enigma of Kirkwall' notes and what they hinted at.

There was a lot of potential there. It just felt like a rough draft instead of something polished and final. Act 3 in particular. It was supposed to be this big dramatic climax, but in reality it felt rushed and sloppy.

I do enjoy it, but not as much as Origins.

I was just thinking. What happens if the Inquisitor dies at the end? After all, that fade magic seems to deplete their life throughout the game. Poor Cullen, if so. (P.s if Morrigan tries another 'I'll save your life if you have your bf sleep with me' I will flip tables!)

The game apparently continues after the end, so it's unlikely we die.

You'll have to re-flip them, because I'm sure that at least one other person will have flipped them already (me). Or maybe I'll reflip your tables. It could go either way.

 

Seriously, if they pull another "Male protagonists get a neat little plot point with their Li but female players get to bribe their BF into sleeping with somebody else" stunt, I'm going to rage.

The Dragon Age team has a bit of a different ethic, though. I think (don't quote me on this, I'm just trying to remember and not sure if I'm succeeding) that Mr. Gaider believes in... not a bunnies and butterflies happy ending, but an ending the player can at least perceive as happy/satisfying.

 

Don't quote me on that, though. I think I read that at his tumblr somewhere, but my head might be making sh!t up too.  

 

Either way, I don't believe they'd make killing the Inquisitor a thing. I'm sure there's one ending where the Inquisitor dies, but not all of them.

I dumped Alistair, recruited Loghain, refused the ritual, and made him kill the archdemon, and I still feel bad about it, because turned out Morrigan really cared about my warden, and wanted to help, and also Loghain turned out to be quite alright, and I feel terrible about his soul being destroyed forever. So no matter what you do, you will suffer!

 

My angst ending theory is that you wil win the war, kill all the bad guys, but Cullen will start showing the signs of magical Alzheimer, the Warden will die of magical cancer, Hawke will be eaten by Anders, Varric will dump you and reunite with Bianca, Cassandra will dump you and marry Galyan, Sera will dump you and elope with Scribbles, Iron Bull will ride everyone but you, Dorian will shave, Solas will grow hair, Cole will steal all your money. And nugs will spawn in epic numbers and eat all the Skyhold.
