I wonder if he's still like that in DAI, or he had some interesting adventures between DAII and DAI, and now he's more experienced and tempered.
I'd like him becoming more open-minded to be part of his character development during DAI

Do you guys think Cullen would ever abandon his faith?
Do you guys think Cullen would ever abandon his faith?
To be honest I don't see him abandoning his faith.Question it?Perhaps but even then he's more likely to question whether he's doing what the maker wants, rather than questioning his existence.
Do you guys think Cullen would ever abandon his faith?
In the Maker? Naw, He's had untold amounts of crap happen to him and the people around him already, if he hasn't lost his faith by now then I don't think he ever will, lol. In the Order? Definitely, I think he already has.
That depends mostly on your character, and his/her opinion on the ritual. There are people that romanced Morrigan and didn't do the DR (I did it in some playthroughs).Well, it's really not so cut and dry as that, but yeah, straight male romancing Morrigan... it was a no brainer.
It was very painful and frustrating for everyone else.
Do you guys think Cullen would ever abandon his faith?
No, I don't think so. I think he draws strength from it. I think it saved him during Ulderd's rebellion, and now it's just such a big part of him, that I can't even see him questioning it. He may question the way Chantry functions, or the templars, or the Circle, but I think his trust to the Maker is absolute. It's like he trusted his life to the Maker once, and the Maker carried him out of the fire. It's very child-like and intimate type of faith, it's almost impossible to break.

He's pretty damn strong in his faith, i think. He holds up after so many templars and mages didn't in DAO. Like if Templars get a boost to "mental resistance", then his is twice as strong. Who else pulled that off? First Enchanter Irving.
I still don't really like him though. lol. But that's beside the point.
I think he possibly could lose faith in the Chantry, though. Or at least question it. In fact I sure as hell hope he is more willing to question it after the crap he's been through, because I'm sure if what happened with Meredith taught him anything, it's that organisations/the leader of said organisation is just a person. And people can be bad, good, mislead or corrupt.

After the Divine dies I could totally see that happening.
Thanks.
Spoiler
He's recovering from surgery but he has tweeted to some of us (not me) who have forwarded them here.. so I think he's recovering but otherwise doing well ![]()

Especially if we get to root through any of the Chantry's dirty secrets. ![]()
When I first saw the words "Cullen" I thought this was a Twilight thread. ![]()
Then I checked out the thread. Turns out it has nothing to do with this...
This thread is about a likable Templar instead.

Aww, seems like our poor team Chantry will have serious issues: Cass is going through a crisis, Leliana is in depression, and if Cullen says (in Sandor Clegane's voice) "***** the Chantry!", then who will teach my ignorant child of nature the Maker's will? ![]()
Or maybe Cullen will have ideas how to change the world, including the Chantry, the Templars, and the Circle, and he will be annoying people with them, and that's why you either love him or hate him.

Still kind of sparkles in the sun though, what with his shiny armor on and all
Do you guys think Cullen would ever abandon his faith?
Nope and I hope he doesn't either. I can however see him having lost faith and questioning the Chantry and Templars in regards to Mages ( something he was already doing throughout DA2 ) and realising that the original purpose of the Order has been subverted and corrupted, but I do not see him abandoning his faith in the Maker. His faith is a large part of what makes his character who he is, like Leliana.
Do you guys think Cullen would ever abandon his faith?
His faith in Andraste and the Maker? I could see him questioning, but IMO, it would take something truly catastrophic and intensely personal to destroy that. Bad things happened, but they're global.
But I could definitely see him losing his faith in the Templar Order. There's nothing like watching a role-model sacrifice her honor, abandon sanity, and pervert her faith in the name of ambition to make one realize that the system is flawed.
... Once again, I am the only DA2 fan in existence lol
Now, now, you know that's not true.
Preferring the more streamlines naked bodies in DA:O doesn't mean it's my fave of the two.
Ahm maybe we have a closet fan of *dun dun dun dun* "Fifty Shades of Greg" on our hands
EDIT: OH MY GOD TABLET, DO YOU HAVE TO CHANGE EVERYTHING AND MAKE ME LOOK LIKE A FOOL?
"FIFTY SHADES OF GREY" AND NOW ITS ON CAPS LOCK AND I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY!
LOL I totally thought that was intentional, too, and it gave me a smile for the morning. ![]()

Wait, what? The thread isn't about Edward Cullen???? That's it, I'm out of here! ![]()
I understand there are different paths to become a templar. There are kids like Alistair, who are trained in monasteries since they are 10 years old, and there are guys like Carver, who just come to Knight-Captain and say, "Hey, take me it, I can fight!" I thought Cullen was the first type, he seems like a 100% Chantry kid to me. It's both his thoroughgoing opinion of the Qunari, his devotion to Andraste, and his ignorance of certain aspects of the mundane world. He seems like he never lived in this world on his own. But that's just my impression.
I agree with your comparison with Alistair, though I wish he's a little more experienced in terms of...intimacy. ^^ I'm not particularly eager to have the "oh but you're still a virgin?" kind of dialogs with him. Of course I don't want a completely confident Cullen in this matter, still expecting some blushings and shiness.
I just hope he is a more complex character than the chantry boy who knows nothing of life outside of his job. In fact, I don't want him to be constantly teased on this matter by the other companions during the "party banters". Or else, I'll have to throw everyone to the nearest dragon, cause one does not make fun of my Cullen ! ![]()

Poor Greg the Monochromatic. He didn't stand a chance.
So, which console are we all going to be cuddling Cullen on? I'll be on the PS4. (Used to be an Xbox guy, but my cousins all moved to Sony half-way through last generation.)
Cullen for the ToP (my first!)

True story: I saw the "Explore the Dragon Age" trailer (repeatedly haha!), showed it to my husband, called my brother (who runs a game store) and said, "Most important question I will ever ask you: "XboxOne, or PS4?"
Anyway, we bought the PS4, seriously, because of that trailer. I will be playing it there so that I can see it in all its majestic glory (Seriously, it looks amazing, yes?), but I think hubby will probably play on PC.
So I have a question for all you Cullen fans out there, and I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything, just genuinely interested.
Out of all of the npc's out there, why do you find Cullen the most intriguing?
I confess to not having really paid him much attention in Origins or its sequel.
I saw that several folks answered this already (I was sleeping
), but I want to also suggest checking out some of the links and info on the first page of this thread. This is a question we get asked a lot (And it's a good question, don't get me wrong, please.
), so there is a bit about this, and other things, on the front page. ![]()
