I feel quite nostalgic reading back over that! Hard to believe how long some of us have been tracking this whole Cullen thing.
So he did a rewrite of a follower from top to bottom, and he also got to write a follower he's been itching to write for 15 years.
15 years? Let see... Who of known or rumored companions could drag D.Gaider's attention for 15 years? I'd say it should be a complex and 'unusual' character, the one who wouldn't fit into 'standard' companion's shoes to manifest his beliefs.
Plus I'm in the same bandwagon as some, hoping that the Grey Warden with the fluffy beard from the Anderfel's Alistair mentions in Origins, Gregor, is the one from the concept art and Gaider finally gets to do something with him.
If he is Gregor, the bearded ale-loving Warden mentioned in Origins, why do I imagine that we'll learn he and Oghren went on a fortnight long bender which ended with them in a jail cell, after they attempted to seize a tavern whilst wearing dresses and armed with legs of ham?

Don't forget the nugs. There have to be nugs where Oghren is involved.
I approve of this so much.

I know. Man, it's been a while. Hard to imagine how little we knew then, in comparison to now. I mean, confirmed as a romance!?! I never in a million years expected that one. I was all prepared to go find him in the Keep and stare at his little NPC-self, clicking on him from time to time to hear him tell the Maker to watch over me, like I did in DA2. ![]()
I'm extremely curious about Cullen's last name though. I didn't know about that tweet. I might have come back too soon. This is gonna drive me crazy just like it does before every game release. I have no patience whatsoever.

Well, here's hoping GE asks and gets permission to share after his next VO session!
Here's something else for consideration... I wonder why revealing Cullen's food from that list would be a spoiler. TBH, I'm actually not remotely interested in the food list since I don't think it really tells us much of anything. So... why would Cullen's be spoilery?

Bless him. I'm trying really hard not to think about how absolutely perfect his voice would be in a romantic situation. Alistair's VA is my favorite so far, of any companion but Greg has a high possibility of unseating him from that throne.
Bad pun is bad.
I don't recall traveling to Tevinter or Par Vollen and yet we have party members like Sten and Fenris.
My point was a little more than just "Dorian is from Tevinter." ![]()
While Sten and Fenris are both from other places, neither of them have primary goals that are focused on their former homes. Their goals are in the here and now, and thus they are able to achieve some goals in their character arcs where they are. They are not reformers. That's the big difference.
The way Dorian was described in the survey leak, the character's goals seem pretty Tevinter-focused. He has reasons to be away, but it leaves questions about where the writers would take his character arc if he ended up being an important party member.
I'm sure they could make it work, but it's not the most obvious choice for me.
So, is there any symbolic reason for the sword up vs. Sword down on the armor? (I am drawing today, and I hadn't realized the direction the sword pointed had changed.) (I pulled this off the internet, for reference, so I have no idea about how to credit this one. Just know that *I* did not put it together.)
I'm thinking stylistic choice.
It would make sense to me if templars from different areas had slight variations on their uniform appearances, or if the uniforms changed slightly over time while still retaining the basic design scheme.

I remember when I first joined the (newly old) Cullen thread when it was still tiny and everyone in there was convinced (including myself) that we'd be lucky if we even got a cameo out of him! It feels strange looking back at it all knowing what we know now... feels even stranger going forward knowing that we're finally going to be able to romance him and actually learn more about him in general.
Despite all the speculating we've done, I still can't fully picture what romancing him will be like. I mean, yes, I've known about it for a long time but I was told about it back when it was still just a "goal" that could be scrapped, so I was fully expecting it to land in the cutting room floor and thus resolved not to get too excited about it until it was 100% confirmed... and now it is! My mind is still kinda blown, lol.
Here's something else for consideration... I wonder why revealing Cullen's food from that list would be a spoiler. TBH, I'm actually not remotely interested in the food list since I don't think it really tells us much of anything. So... why would Cullen's be spoilery?
Maybe because answering that question at all would "confirm" his status as a follower?

If it's deceptive wax fruit then that could be considered a spoiler, I guess. The other foods I'd consider to not really be a spoiler at all, even surprise meatballs, because if that is him it's not a surprise because we already know about him, LOL!

Maybe he wanted to write a bald character.
(Has he ever written a bald character?)
The follower (so that's the Dev term for 'companion') DG wanted to write is most likely Cole. I vacillate between being intrigued by Cole, and utterly creeped out about him. (Did DG write Justice, or was that Anders's writer?) He'd make an interesting non-standard companion. As much as I love Cullen, he's not exacting a mold-breaking character here, ya know?
He's been through some crap, but he's not a Fade spirit possessing the body of a youngster.
AND NOW I DESPERATELY WANT COLE-CULLEN INTERACTION.
Ah-hem.

My thoughts on this are that they didn't want to spoil Cullen's writer's fun. Or, they know we're watching that food list super-closely and want to watch us squirm.
EDIT: HAPPY PAGE 200 GUYS!! ![]()

... I hadn't considered that. LOL, Too logical for my pea brain!

Haha! Logic is not my strong suit, let me tell ya. It was just the only option that would stop me from obsessing about that damn list of food. haha

This is a good explanation, too. ![]()

Maybe because they know we analyze everything to death and we might squeeze out some meaning or imagine meaning where there isn't any?
If I were one of the writers, I wouldn't tell us for that reason, even if it was one of the obvious ones.

That's my thoughts on it. It's not that it's a spoiler necessarily, it's that the forum is prone to wild jumps in thought. We've all seen it happen (like yesterday with DG jokey comment in the Twitter thread) so I understand them being cautious about any information. Even silly ones like, "Oh, Cullen is actually a bran muffin." "OMG BRAN DECAYS FASTER THAN YOUR AVERAGE GRAIN! CULLEN DEATH SEMI-CONFIRMED!"

Yeah, but so? lol The forums' main source of fuel is wild speculation. People have little else to go on.

True. Perhaps they don't want to announce his writer yet, and the food objects are tied to specific writers at this point, yes? Or, some of them are.
I dunno. I'm just throwing stuff out there and hoping it sticks to a wall.
Question: Do u prefer siding with mages or templars in the DA2?
I like templar ending more and it's kinda my canon. Though I haven't seen many around DA community who prefers it, everyone is pretty pro-mage ^^; Well nothing against mage rights, freedom for mages and that stuff but I just enjoy siding with templars more. Of cource I can see more Cullen and hear his views on the thing but I also like how you can remain in the Kirkwall afterwards and even become Viscount of Kirkwall
All power to Hawke ^^
I think the mage ending has some nice scenes as well like the boat one (it's pretty) but when Orsino does what he does.. it feels futile effort to me to side with mages.

Pro-Mage. I felt... kinda terrible for siding with the templars. I'm planning on doing it again, I just... it was hard to get into that headspace for that character. Maybe I need to think of it as I'm not mowing down innocent mages, but, that, instead, maybe, these are the blood mages that Meredith was telling me about? I don't know, I don't know, I don't know.
The Cullen scene was nice, though. Totally spared those mages.
