Or maybe they did it to create mounts for the Krog... oops, wrong game!

Inquisitor riding a dragon

a girl can dream... :-)
I remembered this. “Noble dragons don't have friends. The nearest they can get to the idea is an enemy who is still alive (Terry Pratchett, Guards! Guards!)"
Oh gosh, that'll be fun!
Like the first day of summer vacation only they breathe fire and eat people.
Why does this remind me of that one time I went on spring break? ![]()
I guess the closest we'll get to riding a dragon will be the Iron Bull
.
I think 20 dragons is waaaay to many.
I like that feeling of "Wow I defeated the dragon, whew... it was hard but I did it"
now it will be like "Oh no another one... I just want to get to the store without these things bothering me all the time!"
like in Skyrim ![]()

I'm waiting to see 1) How big the world really is, because in a huge world, 20 dragons isn't all that many and 2) In what context the 20 dragons are used. Maybe 4 of them are a cut scene involving the Fade or something. 3) Cameron said something like, "about 20", so there may be 16, or 23 or who knows.

Don't we have only 10 areas? I think that's definitely pushing it. Unless there's just a few that only appear as main story bosses. Maybe like Flemeth? Even then I'd imagine it's only two or three max. That's still 1.7 wild dragons per area. And what if we're exploring the Deep Roads as one of these areas? There can't be many non Archdemony dragons down there, can there?
I don't believe they have said how many areas we have as of yet.

I hope so. I'm afraid it will get too repetitive... that there will be a dragon in every area guarding a bridge, cave, something and you have to defeat it to get to the other side of the map.

I think I heard it said in one of the E3 demos. Probably the dwarf demo, but I can't quite recall.
I remember hearing something about 10 areas too ![]()
In all the interviews so far the devs have said that dragons are apex predators, that are one of the hardest enemies to kill, so I don't think it'll be like Skyrim, where dragons showing up got old real fast

Also, they said all Dragon fights are highly scripted, so each fight should at least feel different, and possibly be handled differently, too.
Man, it was hard enough to kill all the tiny wittle dragonlings in the previous games, and the few larger dragons. Now I have to kill, like, twenty of the big dragons???
Do not want.
If the Iron Bull does like dragons, I think he and I are gonna, like, BFF's.
A blood Mage had taken blood out of a fossilized mosquito and used it to create dragons with the purpose of creating a dragon theme park in Tevinter.
And we know how that turns out. ![]()

Better than expected?
*sigh* I'm about done reinstalling Dragon Age 2. I still have a couple of mods I forgot about. Now comes the toughest part of the game: What to name my character? ![]()
"Why are you starting a new character, Bev?" you may ask? Because while I had my character saves elsewhere for DA:O, no such luck for DA2. ![]()

Nope.
With loads of big a** lizards eating people

That's the hard part, thinking up the name. Always.
By the way, I'm really thankful that they decided to pepper the world with RL names like Bethany and Alistair. It makes life sooooo much easier, especially if you're also writing/modding and need to come up with more than just one name. That way, if you get stuck and can't think of a name, poof! He's Frederick.

I might do that just to torment the voice actor who has to say it without laughing. ![]()
That's what throws me off. I can't find any references to them leaving the tower aside from Anders and the enchanters. Maybe Anders was the last non-enchanter to get to leave. And maybe he's why they can't, lol.
While I agree, the White Spire still allowed mages to visit Val-Rouyeaux, and they allowed a mage and his apprentice to go in Tevinter.
Yeah, I was going to say that Rhys said in Asunder that, before what happened in Kirkwall, they were allowed out sometimes into the city. So it seems that the relative freedom ebbs and flows depending on the Circle and the relative, perceived security risk.
From the wiki:
Templars take vows upon knighthood, but these do not include a vow of chastity. Templars are nevertheless discouraged from marrying or raising children since it is impractical to live apart from ones' dependents. Such unions are occasionally permitted, provided that the templar's spouse has his or her own means of support, for example, owning land or a title.[4] A templar marrying another templar or a mage within the same Circle would be considered fraternization within the ranks and would seldom receive permission.
I know this is from this morning, but I was on my phone then. I'm still giggling, because I wrote this paragraph in the wiki. But, it's based on this, which is more apropos.

Templars do not take vows of chastity.
Chantry priests are considered "married" to the Maker-- though it's not an actual marriage, just a spiritual one-- and thus are indeed celibate.
For templars, the situation is not quite the same. Their duties require them to be dedicated to their duties-- they're going to live in a Circle of Magi (which does not have room for spouses and families) or a chantry, or otherwise be pre-occupied. Marriage is impractical, and the Chantry thus discourages such marriages as having dependants introduces complications that templars can do without (as well as a potential means of leverage).
That said, the Chantry does occasionally give permission for templars to marry, provided the spouse has their own means of support. This is often the case when the spouse owns land or a title. Even so, considering the spouse wouldn't be able to see the templar often, it's not going to happen frequently. Before anyone asks, the Chantry also discourages templars from marrying each other even more so-- that's considered fraternization within the ranks (the templars are run as a military order, remember, and possess the same discipline).
[... plus some other things in follow up posts about mages, etc.]
Also, someone was asking about the nature of their vows, and indeed, I don't think there's any source that tells us. What I've always found curious, though, is that the Chantry Hierarchy Codex suggests that some Chantry initiates go on to become templars, suggesting that at least some of them take "standard" Chantry vows.
"Only those folk who take vows become initiates. These are men and women in training, whether in academic knowledge or the martial skills of a warrior. All initiates receive an academic education, although only those who seek to become templars learn how to fight in addition."
