Out of those, Vivienne. Definitely. Followed by Varric. I really didn't like him at all in DA2, but I actually think he'll be much more interesting this time around. Probably because he actually seems to have opinions this time around. Blackwall, he kind of bores me at the moment to be honest. I love Sheryl Chee's writing, and I'm sure he'll be more interesting in game as I think he has a lot of potential, particularly as a romance, but his interview didn't really sell him all that well for me as far as I'm concerned. So unless he's really great, he may well suffer the same fate as Varric in DA2 where in that I never bother selecting him for my party.

I remember seeing the trailer for the first time and I was so caught up with Morrigan's reappearance in her old outfit - which was kinda nice, that I barely noticed him. So my first thought was along the lines of: oh look Morrigan and wow there is this dude in a lion helmet, he kinda looks important. Like a badass. And quizzy just standing on the side...And then when this shot came up, and I realized just who he was, ordering and looking all...hot (well he had to be - that helmet does not seem to have any air conditioning installed. At least at the first glance.  ) and commanding and in charge...and I almost fainted. True story.

Weeeell not really, but there might have been some squealing involved, that may, or may not have scared my mom into bursting into my room to check whether I was still in one piece...I don't really squeal a lot...or at all. Cullen has this funny effect on me. That sexy bastard.  )

 

So..ekhm yeah my point: He is totally a BAMF. Bona fide BAMF.

Was the scabbard thing already discussed and I missed it? I just think it'd be really cool if we had scabbards finally! But I'm not too hopeful, honestly. Just weird that he has one and we've not seen anyone else in DAI with one (just the same old "weapon attaches to character's back like glue).

Yeah, we talked about it a couple of times. I think we first saw it on that picture Felicia Day smuggled out of BioWare office. Where Cassandra had a 2-handed sword on her hip, lmao

Yeah... but I reckon if they've changed her eyes for good, as I imagine they're still probably tweaking little things, I wouldn't expect them to release a pic with the old brown eyes, you know?

LOL Sorry, yeah, I've waxed long-winded about the scabbard and  it's possible and not possible connection to the belt and yellow ribbon thingie. But, yes! Scabbards!  w00t!

I did notice the scabbard in the video, but I guess I'd just forgotten that they didn't appear in the earlier games ... ? Maybe I mentally inserted them while I was playing. When I first saw the video I was thinking, "Oh, that ropey belt must be for his scabbard."

I'm usually not fussed about being realistic in terms of armor and weapons, but I have to admit the floating "back weapons" are kind of irritating. Hey, we got bow strings finally, maybe we'll truly have scabbards?!

I'm really impressed with what I've seen them do with frostbite 3 so far though. It's a beautiful looking game already! I just hope Cullen ends up coming out, not simply handsome, but like himself. All the different shots of Varric have been impressive. I really hated the skin textures and how rubbery everyone looked in DA2. (hands and ears aside because ... ugh) I quite like how he looks compared to his previous self. He still looks like him, but with more depth and detail. I want the same for Cullen, too. I Use Varric as an example because we saw much more of him than Cass. Cass is lookin' good too imo.

I think you may be right. His face looks fuller to me. And of those three, I'd most likely choose Varric.

People actually carried shields on their backs. They have this shoulder belt thing, you throw it across your shoulder. If I remember this right.
Daggers are easier to get from the belt than from the back too.
I'm happy we got scabbards, but I have a feeling we won't be getting proper sword belts, and the scabbard will be just magically glued to the hip.
And Cullen's golden ribbon is not a part of sword belt. I mistook it for it in low res, but now it's obvious that it has nothing to do with it. I'll try to find a picture of how a sword belt should look tomorrow after work
