Varric: "So Curly... "Mages aren't people like you or [him/her/Inquisitor]", hmm?"
Cullen: "Maker Varric, please don't bring that up. It was an honest mistake."
Varric: "Oh, I was just wondering, 'cause, you know... you wouldn't be the first Templar to have been Lyrium-addled."

If this isn't in the game it's at least in my headcanons XD Poor Cullen!

Ugh, I agree.  In official capacity, fine, but once we make friendships and relationships, I hope we have some sort of name other than our title.  That is one of the things I liked most about DA2.  I loved the name "Hawke."

They managed to pull it off with the Warden... although, it's been so long since I've played the thing properly that I can't remember how/what they referred to him/her as, if at all.

Cullen: So... you are a Mage?

Qunquisitor: I am Saarebas, yes.

Cullen: I see...

Varric: He's confused, you're not in a dress or wearing an awful hat. Don't worry, I'm sure he'll get it eventually.

Vivienne: *Icily* What do you mean... an awful hat?

Cullen: Even I'm not that clueless to insult a mage's attire to her face!

Varric: Did our mighty Templar just zing me? Am I dreaming?

I hope they don't call our Inquisitor "Inquisitor" constantly, that would drive me mental!

Yeah, there's tons of ways to refer to our characters. You eminence, ser, knife ears, oxman, shorty, shem, friend, love, my dear, pet, honey, sweetie, my pretty, sex poodle... The possibilities are endless!

The challenging part is that David wasn't referencing anything.  He was simply pointing out that if content was going to be cut, whether or not it had been revealed content wouldn't be much of a factor.

But then some conclusions were made and it was being spread as information and then the speculation led to conclusions and then there were speculations about what this might mean for other stuff (i.e. Cullen).

It's a bit of a lesson for me to probably not sass much anymore (certainly not in that thread, and probably not on twitter), because I don't want people seeing some of that stuff and getting excited about things that could only lead to huge disappointment.

SASS CONFIRMED IN DAI. SINCE IT'S IN THE CULLEN THREAD IT MEANS CULLEN HAS SASS, IS SASSY AND WILL SASS YOUR MAGES.

Welcome to the thread Allan. *hugs* We speculate about everything and - everything is Cullen related. :)

If I remember correctly, they didn't really use a name at all. It felt more like an actual conversation. It's weird, because you'd think we'd be constantly using each other's names in conversation, but we don't. We use other ways to communicate that, like eye-contact.

I didn't actually mind being called Hawke, but that's because, in high school, several of my teachers called me by my last name, and both my brother and my father go mostly by our last names. Heck, my mom calls my dad by his last name.

I hope that our LI call us pet names, though. Except in the field!

They did.  It did bother me even then.  Your LI called you "dear", right?  Ok, but I would've preferred to have had a name or a nickname or something.

being dissappointed? by what? the lack of a character in next awesome game when said char's existence (and even a romance option) was already confirmed? i'm a bit confused. how ppl here could be dissappointed?

The fact that you guys have to curb your own fun to prevent us from going into a tizzy is really to most unfortunate part of this, I think. When you guys are joking around and having fun with us, that's when the forums really feels at its best.

tbh i feel this thing has more impact on the outside. of this thread, i mean.

has something happened? i was busy catching up on some old games, just lurking from time to time :)

While we're on the topic of Oblivious Cullen and silly dialogues, here is a script for a little comic I wanted to make a few weeks ago when we were having a discussion about (a) Oblivious Cullen, ( B) whether we'd be able to equip warriors with ranged weapons / the opinion held by several thread members that Cullen would look good with a crossbow and © the Jar of Bees, which was newish at the time. I never sketched it up because this Cullen is pretty out of character and the thread moves fast.

SPOILER cut for OOC silliness

Spoiler

Ah man, that's cute! I like it!

And why am I out likes now?!

I was talking in a more general sense. When the Devs are having fun, well, I get more excited.

There was some chaos in the twitter thread, which is now unstickied. Jokes were made (by one of us), and then taken way to seriously, and, well, bad times.  :(

whew! it's like running a marathon trying to catch up with this thread! but I'm here now, and the news is still pretty much the same...it feels like the calm before a storm. Like something big will be announced soon, but I don't know what.

Zevran says, "My dear Warden," which I HAAAAAAAAAATED. It felt so... impersonal. But this is coming off of playing Hawke, so not having a name felt weird. Then there's "Shepard" in ME. I love being called "Shepard"; I can't imagine the romance with Kaidan would've felt so sweet and personal if he'd called me "Commander" constantly lol

^THIS^ I did love "Shepard."  And it was just really special in Kaidan's voice.  *sigh*  Yeah, what were we talking about?

In the U.S. military it's quite common to call a person by their last name. So for me it felt natural to have Shepard called Shepard most of the time. But, yeah, in DAO the warden was always called the Warden except for one time when Howe calls Cousland the Cousland spitfire. While it wouldn't be impossible to include an inquisitor's first name, at least for the captions, voicing them would be another matter entirely.

I think the BSN in general is like a giant drunken game of telephone. You could make a comment about working on grass texture --> someone hears "chest hair" --> now we have a semi-confirmed rumor that Varric's  chest is romance-able and people are warring over too many rogues in LI slots!

Sometimes it's just good disturbing fun to watch.
