True, true, but that's when I mostly watched anime.
I don't think it's blood that gives him that. I think it's feeling of importance and like he belongs, which would be explained by him being spirit and getting power from acts that fit to his spirit. Well only speculation again, Cole's character is quite confusing.
I don't really remember as it's been a while since I read Asunder, but isn't his whole thing about killing them that he'd be the last thing they'd remember? The key word being remember, thus keeping him from fading away?
Edit- spelling.

Giving him reality, however, also validating them, too; their only freedom was in death.

Disagree about their only freedom was in death. They weren't so much mercy killings (imo) as they were murders Cole felt compelled to commit. He managed to break Rhys out of his cell without killing him.
They're wishing for death- that's why they see him. They're literally begging for it, so he grants it. Mages about to be made tranquil or executed are the bulk of his victims- the rest threaten Rhys and Co.

Well I think what is sure is that he felt like he wasn't fading away for while after killing those people and that their misery somehow invited him to them. It seemed like he wasn't sure what made him feel like that though, I think Evangeline or Rhys some point thought it was maybe some kind of blood magic (or were afraid Lambert might think that) but I think Cole speculated that he felt more alive cause they noticed him and remembered him as their killer/saviour.
I still think that he doesn't necessarily have to kill to remain in this world, he just needs to be remembered so he somehow connects to world like that.
In that case, I hope necromancy will be satisfying.
I want a staff made of two fused backbones topped with a human skull. I want a goat skull for a hat. I want the numbers of my living soldiers to be matched by the undead. I want to name my fortress Gloamingreach. I want to cackle as I reanimate my fallen foes to throw back at their former allies. I want my voice to have a slight but noticeable echo and for my eyes to eventually start glowing with ghostlight. I want to reanimate Quentin and then just laugh. I want a skeletal horse with flame-enchanted shoes. I want corpses to fall to bloodied earth, patiently awaiting rebirth.
Oh my god, it's like you're in my head. Can we be BFFs? *starry-eyed*
I was just having a listen to the female Qunari demo... I think it's the American female VO from what I can tell. I quite like it!

Wait... wasn't that the one that everyone thought was Alex reganwhatever? I thought we've only heard the one female Inquisitor so far...?

I thought so too, but I turned the volume right up and where she says "Alexius, it's time to answer for your crimes" the way she says "answer" sounds very American, almost in a female Commander Shepard style of voice.

Yeah, I don't think he has to kill to not disappear, but he definitely thinks that he must.

It sounds like an OCD style of compulsion, like if he doesn't kill them then something bad will happen, in his case believing that he'll cease to exist.

Which one are you listening to? I only have the IGN one bookmarked and MLaw, bless him, is talking right over it. ![]()

Yup, he definitely feels a strong compulsion to carry on. I'd even go so far as to say that it became his vice. Oh well, he'll have plenty of folk to stab come October 7th!

Yeah, the one where they talk right over it but you can just about hear enough to pick up on the accent if you turn the volume right up.

It's very hard to hear, but I thought it sounded American also. Don't tell me Jennifer Hale is voicing the Inquisitor too ![]()

Yes, he did. I think Allan went on to say that there should be at least on option for every race/gender combination though. General consensus seems to be that Varric & IB would be most likely to be race-gated options due to animation difficulties ![]()
