In the U.S. military it's quite common to call a person by their last name. So for me it felt natural to have Shepard called Shepard most of the time. But, yeah, in DAO the warden was always called the Warden except for one time when Howe calls Cousland the Cousland spitfire. While it wouldn't be impossible to include an inquisitor's first name, at least for the captions, voicing them would be another matter entirely.

I can just picture it: the voice acting cutting off into a monotone, robotic voice to say your Inquisitor's first name before switching back to the voice acting. Flawless!

"Well, if it isn't *ROBERT*. What do you want with us?"

^THIS^ I did love "Shepard."  And it was just really special in Kaidan's voice.  *sigh*  Yeah, what were we talking about?

I loved Ashley having "Skipper" as her nickname for Shepard, but after finally rolling a FemShep that romanced him and kept him alive, I must concede that his way of saying "Shepard" lead me to develop a mancrush on Raphael Sbarge's voice.

Hawke was a great name in DA2. Even with the default names, I can't imagine anyone except Leandra calling them "Marian" or "Garrett", those letters from Bethany/Carver seem really weird when they did so.

Why do I suspect that Viv might go River Song on us if she's a romance option (or even if she's not) and refer to the Inquisitor as "Sweetie"?

I'd actually pictured Viv using the term "Darling" a lot...but that'll probably just be in my head.

Reminds me of that episode of The Simpsons at Kamp Krusty... I may have to name my Inquisitor "Mr Black" just for that reason

I'm hoping we'll be referred to by our last names again; I'm really getting used to the sound "Lavellan" :)

I think the BSN in general is like a giant drunken game of telephone. You could make a comment about working on grass texture --> someone hears "chest hair" --> now we have a semi-confirmed rumor that Varric's  chest is romance-able and people are warring over too many rogues in LI slots!

Sometimes it's just good disturbing fun to watch.

People want to romance Varric's chest?Let me guess,It's the chest hair isn't it,women(and men) can never resist his chest hair!

that would be amazing!

I'd be fine with a sweetheart or beloved here and there. As long as it's not Inquisitor this, Inquisitor that all day long.

Rumour is that that frustrated with any kind of official confirmation of him being a LI interest in DAI, Varric's chesthair eventually seperated from his body and went on to become notorious ladies man Cousin Itt from the Addams Family.

True story.

I'm starting to like the sound of it as well, which is kind of strange considering that a Lavellan is  supposed to be a mythological rodent like creature. :P

I hope we get to choose what our companions get to call us when making our characters although it's highly unlikely it would be an awesome thing. O and by the way I'm new here, HI! :D

Imagine how awkward that would make the romance scenes with the robotic voice!

"Oh Maker, I want you so bad! Take me, *Robert*!"

THIS. I would even be happy to pick from a list of names if we could hear them once in a while.

I think I'd prefer all the protagonist race options to have the same last name, just so that we'd get some form of personal greeting/name, rather than Inquisitor or whatever all the time. I mean, I'm sure there must be a neutral sounding Surname out there that would work for all races and still sound good when being greeted with it. Just like how Shepard and Hawke did.

I can imagine that any glitchy romance dialogue would be awesome. Don't you dare try and patch them if they occur, devs!

Cullen: Maker, I demand that you take me now ERROR: NAME NOT FOUND and I will be your ENDEARMENT: SEX POODLE!

Inquisitor: You are such a romantic, Cullen...

I'm laughing so hard! If I ever play a male Inquisitor, I'm naming him Robert now.  :D

Er, excuse me, I mean *ROBERT*.

"*ROBERT*, how could you betray us like this? I thought we were friends!"

"L-Look out! It's Inquisitor *ROBERT*!"

"Sometimes, when you look at me, *ROBERT*, I wonder how I lived before you."

"You can call me *ROBERT*."

"We'll just call you the Inquisitor, seeing as those surface names are hard to pronounce."

What if your Inquisitor is in danger? Your LI cries out with such passion and emotion but when they reach your name, it's just the same monotone voice but more drawn out.

"MAKER, NO!! *ROBERRRRRRRRT*!!!".

So, does that make the Elf Inquisitor the Dragon Age equivalent of Muad'Dib?

And would having the occasional surname dropped in dialogue be viable? I know they're already stretching it as much as they can with four voices to choose from and I guess that having all four voices record each name in dialogue would be too much hassle in terms of gamesize limitations?

I know, all Quizzy's should be surnamed Darling. That way they can go for broke in the romance scenes AND provide cheap laughs in dramatic moments. Seriously, I am brilliant - someone should be writing this stuff down! :) :) :)
