I was initially displeased about the idea of set sexualities and saw it as a step backwards, but I've changed my mind as of today. I'm impressed with how the writers are apparently taking into account how the characters' sexual orientations affect their lives, so it's meaningful. It's not just a coin flip or a matter of numbers who will be gay/bi/straight. Since it doesn't appear to be arbitrary (as it seemed in DAO,) I can dig it. 
That said, I am very sympathetic to anyone who was hoping to romance Dorian with a certain character and won't be able to. I hope there will turn out to be another LI you love just as much.

My only "minor" issue with Dorian is that TO ME he has a very "stereotypical" look to him. If you showed me the thirteen companions and asked me which one I thought would be gay, I'd point to Dorian. Is that good or bad? Obviously there is something about his look that immediately struck a chord with a lot of guys.
Well, the important thing is, he's going to make a lot of gamers (gaymers ) happy.
