I think this thread has gotten too silly even for me...  :pinched:

This is what happens when it gets past eleven pm here. I get a little weird, and Cullen starts destroying computers, and Sten finds pictures of Cullen offering people cookies.  :D

Just don't tell her about the nug. Or the peanut butter. And she should probably not look in her sock drawer for a few days just in case...  ;)

I think I can help

"The Power of Christ compels you!...although I don't believe in God...errr...or religion for that matter...but The Power of Christ compels you!"

What hand do I hold the book and stuff?

If you're calling on the power of christ, don't use your left hand! The left hand path is EVIIIILLLLLL. (Or so they tell me.)

Which ever hand is strongest, so we can use it to beat the Cullypie outta him!

Man, forget the holy water shenanigans. Just use the pimp hand. Keep it strong:lol:

Guys....I'm not sure this is going to work.

So I totally wasn't online for my exorcism....

Ok so we were talking about this a little while ago but do we know if lyrium actually helps slow the taint or vice versa? That may be why Alistair is expected to live a while.

Oghren: *drunk cackles* Hey, Templar kid, you know what that position is? *points at computer screen*
Cullen: * growls* I don't think anyone asked you dwarf
Oghren: eheheheheh You Templars are such wusses. You never rolled in the hay before?
Cullen: I don't think that's any of your business!
Oghren: Well, eheheheh, watch that moving picture and I'll explain it nice and slowly for you. *drunk cackles*

If it does, I'd bet it's more of a brief lengthening, followed by a rapid decline. Eventually the lyrium will take its own toll, which could speed up the Calling. Perhaps you might get a bit more time, but the trade-off is that you suddenly get bad.

Or maybe you never have to deal with suffering from the main lyrium problems because you don't live to see it. So maybe a lot of Wardens figure it doesn't matter and use it anyway. Do mages end up dealing with lyrium problems like Templars do or does their connection to the fade keep them safe?

Also what if someone who is Tranquil takes lyrium? I know they can work with it and not have problems but what about actually drinking it?

We don't know.

I am guessing swigging lyrium on top of having the taint would probably make matters worse if anything.

At the moment the question I'm most interested in learning is if lyrium (more specifically the red kind) is sentient. A parasite? Ever since the behemoth was revealed, I've been wondering if it's a possibility. Would def add a creep factor to the Red Templars but that's just me /shrugs

That's a possibility. Why not use lyrium--you're going to die anyway, and the taint is more likely to kill you than the lyrium.

I'm not sure if mages are effected the same way as templars are. I don't know if the game has ever said.

Obito that's awesome! That never occurred to me. Maybe that's why it sort of sings to people. Now I'm thinking of the SG1 episode with the sentient crystals lol! But that might be. Maybe it has a connection to the old gods or the Elves from ages ago that supposedly lived forever.

Sentient lyrium is giving me Final Fantasy VII vibes. Which isn't a bad thing, by the way, I like the trope of life-energy being used as a power source.

It creeps me out a bit too.

If the lyrium did turn out to be some sort of sentient life, I see it being somewhat similar to the flood(halo)/necromorphs(dead space). Not exactly intelligent per se, but with little more than a primal drive to consume and consume until it's all that is left.

EDIT

you can choose to side with lyrium endgame

You heard it here first!

I think that mages probably would have the same problem as Templars, but they don't take it on a regular basis like they do.

I always thought it was possible that the red lyrium was the "real world" tendrils of a Fade creature of great power. Something that was unable to bring itself through the veil, but that could channel an aspect of itself (the red lyrium) into the world and thus control others. Even if it wasn't a full "control" per say, but that you were then under the sway of said creature. Even if it was just a presentation of its anger, or its malice... or something...

Or perhaps some combination thereof? A sentient construct caused by... something? Or someone?

Ooooo... iiiiick...
