This is a great analogy, Hannah (thanks for sharing!), and exactly why I continue to come back to fraternization as being the big issue for him. I really think that's why he ran away from Amell and Surana, for example, because it's just inappropriate and in many ways counterproductive to have relationships like that with one's charges. But, the new world of Thedas of in 9:40, however, has no Circles.
 
No mages Cullen will meet are in his charge. So what then? That's where I personally think it will just depend upon the individual mage and his interactions with that person. We've seen him befriend mages and have crushes on mages, so in principle it's possible with the right person. Even if he were to continue to have a general distrust of mages in the abstract. So I'm optimistic about the mage-Cullen romance in DA:I (independent of the fact that I think, for gameplay reasons, the advisor romances will probably have fewer gates than the follower romances).

Will the Inquisitor Elf!Mage and Human!Mage be apostates? If not. . . then Quizzy might be known to Cullen.

I don't think we've been told, except that the elf mage is Dalish, and so therefore unlikely to ever have been in the Circle. But, even if they are "known" apostates, I'd be surprised if they're known to Cullen. He hasn't been in the Ferelden Circle for a decade and he's presumably not at an Orlesian Circle (but then, who knows on that front). 

 

Regardless, there's in principle no such thing as an apostate anymore. Just mages and a Templar Order dealing with them "as they see fit", whatever that may entail post-Nevarran Accord. So whether he feels a duty to "bring them in" or kill them or whatever will likely depend upon his current affiliation with the official Templar Order. It's a huge gaping question mark, to my mind.

And I liked it-I don't ship them, certainly, but I like Fenris and I like Cullen, and I appreciate the take on the subject matter (Whether or not Fenris' lyrium tattoos would be enticing to a templar, specifically), plus the art was good.

 

And after tonight's episode of True Blood, I'm feeling a good deal more...forgiving to unusual ships I don't usually understand.

That's kinda how I used to feel about Fenders.  I'm mellower about it now, because the Fenders community just seems full of good hearted people with AMAZING ARSE artistic talent.

 

The only things I really will not read, or will stop once I realize that's where it's going (and there weirdly seems to be quite a bit of it around) is anything involving Cullen and non-con of any sort. Just...not something I'm at all comfortable reading. (And honestly, I should just say any Non-con.)

Oh yeah, I'm not judgey about non-con, I just have a hard time with it, myself. 

I don't feel...ownership (? That's not exactly the word I want, but it's late and I'm sleepy. :\ ) toward any of my personal pairings (and at least one of them is unorthadox, at the very least, wildly non-canon at the most, oh and not even technically a "pairing" *grin*), but I get that this world is as personal for others as it is for me, and while I don't understand some (Fenders keeps being my example tonight-I don't get it only because I think the only "magical fisting things" that would be going on between the two of them would end in Anders' death. ), I don't judge, because I know that we all can take something different away from these characters (because they're so vibrant).

 I feel the same I find myself not attracted to so-called "rivalry" pairings, mostly because I'm a romantic and I like fluffy romance more than angst-ridden sex  

 

Anyone think they have a pairing that no one else likes or has thought of? I thought I was the only Cullen x Anders fan, but obviously I'm not. Probably the only Cullen x Alain (Alain? Alain who??) fan though
