Definitely going Female Human Mage. Forbidden love FTW. XD I loved the Fenris romance with a mage - Fenris comes to respect Hawke a great deal, and love her/him; I do imagine there is still an underlining current of mistrust when it comes to magic, though. I imagine the Cullen romance may have similar angst. No one can come back from torture and suddenly be alright with everything. It takes time - a lot of time. 

 

Anyway.

Sometimes I feel like the only person who wants him to be reminded of Amell/Surana when he meets a female mage. My mage Inquisitor won't look like Amell, but she'll have a similar personality, and I'm hungry for the angst that might cause for Cullen.

 

Yep, at least like.. he should be conflicted. "Look how it turned out last time you fell for a mage, Cullen!"

LOL. I honestly think people hoping for a totally angst/drama free romance are going to be the disappointed ones. I feel like Bioware doesn't do healthy, happy romances. Not really. There's always some sort of conflict sooner or later.

I think I just have weird standards! I was going to reply "my DA romances were angst/drama free." Then I thought about it for a second.

 

My canon romances did go really smoothly though.

Jacob from Mass Effect 2 was a relatively normal, drama/angst-free romance (aside his daddy issue); but the guy never made a big deal out of anything, was totally laid back, all that jazz.

 

He's the least popular romance. XD

Which makes them much more interesting and realistic in my opinion. Besides, it is a dark fantasy game. It always could do with a bit of dramatic flare.

What kind of character are you guys looking to romance him with? I really want to do female human or elf mage because that is the closest thing to who he was in love with in DAO. I want to see if there will be any interesting story plot points from that. Will he be conflicted by falling in love with another mage? oooohhh waaaaaa

 

Hello! Long-time BSN lurker here!  

 

I was originally going to romance Cullen with a female human mage because I wanted to see what that would be like, considering his history, but uh. I always always play rogues in games, and uh, well... Willpower is a mage stat and I have none? >.> So I'm rolling a human female Bard (with emphasis on the capital B ) rogue named Delphine-- snarky, a little reckless, loves life, quiet, loves to sneak around and climb the Keep at night when she should be sleeping... and sometimes she does it drunk. (Did I say she was a little reckless?) She also loves music and can sing very very well.

 

I came up with her before Greg Ellis tweeted about Cullen singing, and oh man I fist-pumped and squealed I am so excited to hear him sing. Greg Ellis has a gorgeous voice, both speaking and singing.

Yes, but I hope Cullen romance doesn't have as much angst as, say, Anders'. Cullen is addicted to lyrium. He will eventually lose his mind and die from the lyrium poisoning. He can only have a decade of nice happy life with his love, if they are lucky. That's enough angst for me.

Erm... anyway what was the question?  Ah yes!  I will be romancing Cullen with a female human mage.  It will be like Solona Amell (my sort of canon Warden) all over again.  She will also be a necromancer.  And hopefully i can make her sweet, but still a bit eccentric.  Her best friends will be Cole, Solas, and Dorian. Cullen, you poor poor bastard...

 

I like the drama and the irony of it, and the whole mage/templar thing has so much potential for a challenging but ultimately rewarding relationship.  Both of them will have to examine pre-conceived notions, and overcome past experiences... oh the drama!

I wonder if our advisors will advise us on more than just their area of expertise? For example, we know Leliana likes a good gossip, so maybe she'd have a few things to say about our chosen romance option? Or, maybe Cullen would have one or two things to say if he thinks you're running yourself into the ground, kinda like when Shepard goes through that crisis nearing the end of ME3 and one of the companions (I forget which) tries to give her/him some advice and Shepard's all like "RAWR!"

Dead? Why? Unless they set it years down the line, but we don't even know if "DA4" will get made yet, it depends on how well DAI does.

I think that BioWare did their best to listen to our comments and criticism from the past two games. I have very high hopes for this game. And I think if they did their best to give us what we want, then there is NO fear of there not being a DA4. There just better be a story with as much effort into it as the graphics in DA:I, and everything will be golden.
