Y'know, I don't think I've seen a single person complain that Morrigan's return is just fan service. 

 

It does make me chuckle when you see certain individuals hate on Cullen and scream fan-service, only to find them moments later in a Morrigan thread squeeing and cooing over her, going on about how they can't wait to learn about how his and Morrigan's son is getting on etc!

I just don't understand why people take the time of day to hate on Cullen. Why not Leliana? Why not Morrigan? Hell even Varric has only one or two whiney trolls, but we only ever see, "Why is Cullen so special?" "Why is Cullen in the game?" "Cullen sucks d!ck 4 lyfe lol". I'm starting to think the only reason so many people "hate" him, is actually because they hate his fans more than him. Why else would they publicly hate on pixels. Not to mention sexy pixels...

Yes, this is how I feel. As a romance, we get to experience Cullen emotionally. We get to learn about how he feels, how his personality is, how he takes flirting, how he reacts to being in love. And these are all fascinating parts of his character and I am overjoyed that we get to do that. But, I also want to know how he reacts under pressure of combat. Is he pragmatic, leave some to die so others might live? Or is he idealistic, still, after everything? Does conflict with blood mages bring out the worst in him? Do Red Templars? Does he associate red templars with Meredith? Does he warn them of the dangers?

 

As I said, getting even half of that is... honestly, more than I expected. How did Wrex put it? Better than I feared, worse than I hoped. I am content with this. But I am human, and thus, I want more. 

 

^THIS THIS THIS^  I don't think I could stop myself from imagining all the things we'll be missing if he's not a companion, just as I would if he'd been an non-LI companion.  The cold, hard truth is I want it all.  Yep.  All. Of. It.  That does not mean I am not sincerely and deeply grateful for what we have, because I am, to the greatest degree.

Wishful thinking, but tomorrow is Good Friday and the Easter weekend is coming up.. so maybe today we'll get the information about our next follower instead of Friday? My husband has off work tomorrow, but it might not be the same for other provinces in Canada so who knows.

I think the most hate comes from that Cullen is templar and pretty pro-chantry. Big part of fandom is really pro-mage and vocal about it too.

Absolutely.  I do worry that talking about wanting both makes it seem like it.  But I'm only human.  The hope is there, and I can't seem to shake it no matter how wise my internal pep talks are.

I would just leave the haters to their echo chamber. They can't lobby the devs to remove him any more than we could have lobbied them to put him in, and even if killing him off becomes an option, he's safe in our copies of the game, so who cares? It doesn't bother me any more than the knowledge that in y'all's copies of the games he won't be hopelessly in love with my Trevelyan.

 

(The misogyny is another issue, but you can get that anywhere on the internet...)

Im on the fence with the whole Templar/Mage war. On the one head, the Templars have gotten out of hand. On the other...the mages need policed. So *Shrug* Idk.

I'm super pro-mage (viva la rebellion!) but I don't go hating Cullen. I really don't think has to do with the Templar thing, I think a majority of the "hater fan club" are a bunch of single guys who wonder how a video game character gets more girls than they do, then there's the portion of the club who are just trolls, and finally we have the "These Cullenites are so annoying, therefore I hate Cullen."
