Im on the fence with the whole Templar/Mage war. On the one head, the Templars have gotten out of hand. On the other...the mages need policed. So *Shrug* Idk.

If I had to place myself on the spectrum, I'd say I'm pro-Circle. Albeit, with some reform.

hmmm...by whom? Morrigan? You? Gaider? THE MAKER HIMSELF?

I just don't understand why people take the time of day to hate on Cullen. Why not Leliana? Why not Morrigan? Hell even Varric has only one or two whiney trolls, but we only ever see, "Why is Cullen so special?" "Why is Cullen in the game?" "Cullen sucks d!ck 4 lyfe lol". I'm starting to think the only reason so many people "hate" him, is actually because they hate his fans more than him. Why else would they publicly hate on pixels. Not to mention sexy pixels...

No, not me silly! "Them"...  :P

I think the most hate comes from that Cullen is templar and pretty pro-chantry. Big part of fandom is really pro-mage and vocal about it too.

I'm pro Mage and anti chantry but I like Cullen mostly because at the end of DA2 I think his views on mages changed

My moneys on Solas, given all the recent screenshots of Dalish Plains (or whatever :P ), and if were super lucky, Sera

Safe money is definitely on Solas. But, well, hope is dumb.

Absolutely.  I do worry that talking about wanting both makes it seem like it.  But I'm only human.  The hope is there, and I can't seem to shake it no matter how wise my internal pep talks are.

know. Sometimes I wish I could reach inside myself and give the hopeful part of me a shake. Settle down, self! Appreciate what you have!

"But I do! I just want more!"

There, there, dear. Here, have a shortbread cookie.

I'm trying really hard not to think about this. Oh man. Today. Around noon. (Well, noon for me.) We could know.

Oh gosh, the trolls. The picture! The trolls. Companion! Trolls.

Fair trade.

I know! I'm trying my hardest not to get hyped but it's so incredibly hard  :D I'm personally hoping for either Cullen or Solas since they are my two favorites, but I think I'd honestly be happy with anyone at this point. That is of course if Cullen is indeed a follower, but yeah.

Yes, this is about where I fall. (I kinda feel like there should be entire communities devoted to mages instead of a single tower, but, well, over time changes can be made.)

IMO the circle in Ferelden was pretty peaceful in the origin story, then it all turned to **** when the bloodmages came along...

MY LOGIC:

Whats the deference between a bloodmage and a murder? a thief? All are dangerous. Any man, elf, dwarf, qunari, can become a murderer or a thief. But only mages can become bloodmage. Ok. Fine, lock up the mages. BUT, now you must lock up every man, so they don't steal or murder. Why should they lock up mages when a skilled murderer can be just as dangerous? I think the mages deserve freedom. However make them attend a mages school, just like any other school, go during the day go home at night, not constantly be locked up and watched by creepy old men.

I'm super pro-mage (viva la rebellion!) but I don't go hating Cullen. I really don't think has to do with the Templar thing, I think a majority of the "hater fan club" are a bunch of single guys who wonder how a video game character gets more girls than they do, then there's the portion of the club who are just trolls, and finally we have the "These Cullenites are so annoying, therefore I hate Cullen."

I know that you can be pro-mage and still like Cullen. But many of people don't give him a chance, they don't go to talk with him during DA2 and think what he says and why he thinks like that. I have seen many people saying that he's is creepy stalker and zealot who enjoys killing mages which isn't what he's character is about.

I mean I guess I can understand where some of them are coming from...some characters, depending on who you are as a person, give you a certain vibe. For instance when I first met Jack in ME2, I kinda just...clicked? Not sure why, just love her as a character. Also I hated Miranda. A lot.

Still doesn't excuse why they can make hate threads. It isn't fair to the fans of said character, or the writers. Keep your inner hate to a minimal :3

I think we need to be careful slinging insults lest we fan the flames, but I understand what you mean.  ;)

I want mages to have more freedom. Not all mages need be punished for other mages crimes. BUT Templars are necessary. Some mages get out of hand. They need to be put down. Templars are trained to put said mages down. I like the school idea but at the same time, the mages are in the circles not just to protect the masses from them, but to also protect the mages from the masses as well. People are afraid of magic...with good reason. Look at Trevinter for example. That's what happens when mages have freedom. But at the same time...all that fear and oppression causes rebellion as well. There has to be some meeting in the middle somewhere. The circles were created in order to find some middle ground. Its no longer working now though. We must find another compromise that appeases both sides. Will it work all the time? Probably not. There's always going to be bad people in the world. Both mage and Templar. But if it works for most...then that's the best we can hope for.

I don't feel like it's going to get better anytime soon.. especially with so many people vying for different characters to have romances. I know a lot are disappointed that Cullen took one of the "spots".

It's definitely understandable for people to not be happy over it because that's a taste and opinion thing, but I feel like once all of the romances are revealed it's going to get rough for awhile. People are probably going to get upset (which is their right of course) but ugh. I hate seeing people disappointed, but I dislike it when people take out their disappointment on others too.

At least this thread is a safe zone

I guess I'm on different page with this one. I can't understand character hate and although it's okay for me that people dislike characters I don't understand why they invest their times in disliking them. Like complaining so much, tagging their hate on tumblr or making new threads. I don't like many characters either but I never post about them.

Eh, I never said I understand the bother people go to when it comes to HATE threads and such. Discussing why you dislike a character is okay, because why the hell should only the people that like the character get to discuss them and the reasons for their feelings? But HATING on and RAGING is a bit different to that. I've discussed reasons I dislike a character, but other than the occasional debate I just avoid the fandom around the characters I don't like.

Edit: Aaaand I just realised how late I am on this. Dear Dirge. Refresh more often.

Hello Cullenites. I just wanted to say that, as a hetrosexual male with no interest in romancing Cullen, I've found him to be a thoroughly enjoyable character and all around awesome dude, bringing the prespective of us moderate templars into the mix. I'm happy for you guys that he is in the game and is an LI, it's cool to see a favourite character get that kind of treatment. I'm sorry that, what I'd consider to be such a solid character has so many haters.

Hold your heads up high!

On the Cullen hate...I don't care that there's a hate thread. Or several. I don't care that they don't like Cullen. You know what bothers the most? Why I always jump in when it comes up? The whole Bioware is fan servicing. Pandering to fans. Or getting mad at Bioware for doing something they dislike (I.E. making Cullen a LI/putting him in the game) I HATE that.

I'd prefer the Templars to simply serve as a police force for Mages that break the law, not as jailers that lock them up for crimes they might commit. I think it's mentioned that this was originally how they were supposed to operate, since the Circle at that time was not compulsory and they simply watched over Mages who chose to live in seclusion. Unfortunately it shifted into a prison and Templars began having an automatic presumption of guilt.

Cullen always struck me as understanding their original purpose and it'd be great if he can help shift it back to it's roots.

Question: would your perception of Cullen change if, instead of the Annulment, he had been involved in an Alienage purge akin to that which Arl Howe performed in DAO?

Do we know if anymore of those full panels have been released from PAX East? I don't wanna start making my video until I can hear the panels for myself, just to make sure I get everything correct.
