On the Cullen hate...I don't care that there's a hate thread. Or several. I don't care that they don't like Cullen. You know what bothers the most? Why I always jump in when it comes up? The whole Bioware is fan servicing. Pandering to fans. Or getting mad at Bioware for doing something they dislike (I.E. making Cullen a LI/putting him in the game) I HATE that.

A-freaking-men.

I'm hopeful that a VO session would be during business hours. So... once 10am Edmonton time hits, I think we should start watching the GE twitter feed. I'm sure he'll tweet us from the booth, like he did last time.

I don't think he's in Edmonton though, didn't he say that he works w/ the team in California or something and w/ the Edmonton team over the phone? It's 8am over in Cali now, so another two hours and we're golden!

Should someone send a polite tweet asking if he's been in the booth yet this week?

Question: how many romance spots will there be in Inquisition? Has this been confirmed by a dev? For some reason I have the number 4 in my mind, is that because it's traditionally been 4 for both DA:O and DA:II?

Thanks!!  :)

Question: would your perception of Cullen change if, instead of the Annulment, he had been involved in an Alienage purge akin to that which Arl Howe performed in DAO?

If he had been directly in charge of it? Or had been second in command like he was with Meredith?

To tell the truth, if iron bull is a LI I will be torn between them the frustration on trying to choose one will be hard for me but I like Cullen more than IB, so maybe if IB is a LI I'll do that in my second play through :P

Hmm... depends on whether they was any magical evidence that supported Apostate or Maleficarum activity. If we're talking about him being a Templar and being ordered to perform a purge, I can't see him doing it without first gathering sufficient evidence that would warrant such a crackdown.

If we're talking about if he was not a Templar, but simply a guard... I dunno, it'd be hard to find him as sympathetic, even if he did so against his will.

It should be noted that he didn't wait to gather evidence in Kirkwall.

Yes because an alienage is not the same as a Circle.

I thought someone had mentioned a CA recording session... I may have hallucinated that though.

For me it's that I don't have problem with people disliking characters but it brothers me when they dislike character for reasons that aren't true in the game or that they take it on fans. I dislike also people saying how making Cullen LI is waste since they aren't respecting people who love the character. For me it's just selfish to complain about one character you don't like when there is so many others in game already that you like. You can't have all you want...

If the situation was the same (an elf bombed the Chantry, he was second in com and, etc.), no, it wouldn't change. I think he should've step up and remove Meredith sooner though (howewer I wonder if he could technically do this when the Grand Cleric was alive).
I'd side with the Alienage as I sided with the Circle.

It hasn't been announced yet how many we'll have. :) I'm assuming 4, but I'd wager 6 being a possibility if there are non-follower romances. It's pretty much all speculation though at this point!

If things played out much the same way as it did with the DA2 ending (with him turning on the leader) then I think I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and then grill the **** out of him in DAI to find out why he didn't act sooner etc (like I plan to). BUT, if he was like "Wheeeey, kill all the Elves!" or "Wheeeeeey! Kill all the mages" then I'd kill him.

With the Templar recruits that fell under Demonic possession he did, but during the Annulment at the end of the game, the Mage Rebellion had already swept across the city and provided some pretty damning evidence, although by no means conclusively tied the Rebellion to the Circle itself.

Yup. I'd still have that, 'Bro should've stepped up sooner' thought, but, my thoughts about Cullen would remain the same. My characters might have different thoughts, but they're people in their own right and can't benefit from my existing outside their reality.

Hmmm. An interesting set of responses.

I think that, perhaps, some of us have different beliefs on how much blame one should assign subordinates for participating in atrocities.

But the Edmonton staff work with him, even though he records in CA. I think GE mentioned that...? Or someone?

It sure as hell would, because to take mages out of the equation is to take a lot of the explanation for his actions out of the equation. I don't agree with the Annulment and he did take a long time to speak against Meredith, however his experiences and what he's been through do at least explain his mental state and feelings. To completely erase that, you erase what complicates his situation and you erase a huge chunk of his character and the potential he has to recover, grow and move past his history.

Most definitely. Hell, my opinion could entirely change on how much he is to blame once talking to him in DAI, but until then I think a lot of us have given him the benefit of the doubt until we know exactly what he did/didn't do and why... I for one am hoping we can talk to him about it because there's no denying he has a lot to answer and a lot of holes to fill in. *Stops self making a crude pun*

Honestly, Xil, I don't think there's enough information here to develop an opinion. A templar being involved in an Annulment is very different from a templar for some unknown reason purging elves from their homes. Why would it be his job? Why is he there? What is his role? What happened to catalyze the 'purge'? I think you're drawing an implicit equivalence between an Annulment and what Howe did in DA:O, when they're very different.
