I think that revealing Leliana first worked well. I'm more excited about the other two characters, but it was good to see her again and it built anticipation for what's coming next, knowing they're doing advisors in the near future too.
(They also settled the advisors/advisers debate.

Tsk! Maker, I hope he doesn't really think that. I only did the Amell / Surana roll to see what all the hubbub was about and it's totally not my thing. I didn't get my Cullen on until DA2.

Likewise. I liked Cullen in DA2. Never played a F!Mage in DAO and M!Mages didn't have that option.

Same. And reminds me of when Jessica helped us reopen our thread here in the new forums. Her first post was about some stereotypical nonsense about Cullen loving her Amell or something.
It's not so much that I'm mad that this is what they really think of us.
It's more like... I worry over whether they only included Cullen (and gave him such a big part) in DAI to "please the silly fangirls."

What bugs me is that it's the dev version of "Why Do People [i.e. fangirls] Like Cullen?" Nothing quite like giving the haters the official seal of approval. 
Personally, I find it a lot easier to grasp the answer to that than "Why Do People [i.e. fanboys] Like Leliana?", but to each his own.
