I don't think it's so much that...what p!sses me off is the insinuation that I'm only bi/pan when I'm single. When I'm in a committed relationship (with any gender), then I'm clearly that sexuality.

I have talked more openly and freely about my sexuality here in this thread than I have anywhere else in my life (except with my husbando. Cuz he's groovy like that.). This is one of the reasons I love it here.

I am not good with terminology generally, but I've heard this bullcrap applied to me. It means that my being bisexual/pansexual doesn't really *count* because I can "pass as straight" because I"m a woman married to a man.

 

It's horsesh!t, and silly.

 

That is just so... stupid. What a jerky term! 

 

But I feel like we need something wonderful to make everyone smile so here you go all my lovelies. Wait for it.... It's a.... that's right, you guessed it!......

But then it's like meeting someone in RL, who's orientation is different than yours or who expresses no real interest in a romance with you.  What's uncomfortable, to me, is trying to force that person into a mold they weren't designed to fill.  I suppose, even when it's a fictional character.  It makes the character seem more like a doll, rather than the unique character they are.

 

Ah I see; we just see characters differently I come at from the POV of a (struggling, would-be) writer, so I have no problem with changing character sexuality. I do it all the time.

I personally don't mind having to play a different gender so I can romance someone imparticular. But you are right, not everyone feels the same way about this and some people have a stronger sense of gender identity as others and we can't judge them on that, just the same as we wouldn't judge others on their preferred sexual preference.

 

In my case, I have no gender identity (although I feel pretty strongly about that so I guess that means I have something?!) and it's incredibly uncomfortable to role-play a heterosexual romance. I can write them, but when I write my characters I don't identify with them as much as when I "am" them in an RPG. I guess that's why RPGs have become so meaningful for me!

Any game that forces a singular character and gender on you fine. A Bioware game though, nope, no go. I figure that should there ever be a character or plot line only available by playing as a male that I really want to experience, then i'll roll one. I have my doubts that I ever will though :/

Yeah, it's like when Kristin Stewart started dating a girl, the media kept calling her a lesbian, saying she'd "finally come out of the closet" when she's already said before that she's bisexual. Just like dating a girl doesn't make her gay, dating a guy doesn't make her straight! Dating a girl doesn't erase her past attractions to men.

 

You're right. It's infuriating when I'm in a relationship with a guy I get people who say "I knew that bi thing was just a phase." Uh, no. I'm still bi, thanks. I'm just dating a guy. My attraction to all genders doesn't magically vanish just because I'm in a relationship. And I agree about feeling open to discuss sexuality here.

Ah, but see I have problems doing that as well. I've tried many times, believe me, to get into races other than human. Couldn't do it. I don't know whether I just have an extreme case of needing to self identify or what, but it's not from lack of trying. Or i'm just really, really boring lol

This is what I'm confused about, since it's easy enough to explore and experience that romance arc.  All it takes is making a rather interesting male character, right?  I simply don't understand the angst.

And I think there's something pretty nifty about having to play around "in someone else's shoes" sometimes. Self-inserts are super fun, but the world of Thedas, just like the real one, won't always cater to our preferences and I think that's actually pretty awesome.

 

Plus you sometimes actually miss a ton of content by not being just friends with a character. I personally found the Morrigan friendship with my female characters just as rewarding as the romance -- ("OMG she said I was like a sister to her! She started to cry and said "Be well, my friend."!!! )

Oh my fellow Cullenites you make me so happy! Between discussions of noodle hair, sitcom cullen, Dean vs. Sam (uh Castiel and Crowley for this boy -uhmph! Seriously why is Crowley hot to me? The universe.... Weird place) the Dorian lovers and silly iron bull, cole, Cassandra, sera and mustache pictures, posting the devs amazing twitter comments, news updates and the awesome gifs and wonderful artwork y'all make and post.

I MISS AND LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!

I received some news from the doctors, and everything is a little touch and go so I wanted to post in case I can't for a while

I know I haven't been on twitter but was told in the chatroom I got many messages, I'll check it right now- I've just been really tired lately. They still won't let me escape the hospital lol!

But I'm excited for the Cullen reveal and thankful I made it to the point I'll get to see it! So help me -I will live to play this Damn game! I will see my kids graduate college and watch them get married too, and see my middle daughter rule the world and my oldest publish her fantastic poems! The little one is three so she's mostly just in love with Aladdin. I don't think it's gonna work out but whatever her dream ends up being I want to be there to say "of course you can! You're amazing!" All that stuff
I also have grand schemes of getting a house in my elder years with my partner and having too many cats and a ton of grandchildren of different races! Hannah baby we are gonna be neighbors.

But I want to say I do adore you guys. This thread and the 2.0 has made me smile and laugh for so long. I'm proud of your accomplishments and your talent and skills. I'm excited to read about your families and kids, how college is going for you and your thoughts on the world. The stories you write, drawings, 3D models and videos you are talented enough and brave enough to share are incredible and it's great you show us your passion.

I think it is so wonderful that many of you are patient and kind and welcoming to others. I wish I could get to know the new posters better but that may have to wait a bit. You are all so amazing and spectacular. I SHOULD be able to get on the chat, and Cassie will keep updates going for my chat buddies - but seriously to you chat guys-I really really love you. I want your dreams to come true and wish you absolute, shameless unabashed happiness, confidence, success and love. From just being able to talk to you more closely (and off topic) I know you deserve it, And I want it SO BADLY! Lol!
So my wonderful lovely friends I may not post for a while, or if things don't work out (they totally will, if you pray save them for others.
