I'm not a Lion King fan, but I really feel sorry for Scar. The guy gets no thanks for removing a hypocritical tyrant from power and granting food to the downtrodden hyenas. Poor Scar. A true hero of the people.

Yeah, there are a few Disney villains like that where if you think about it, you're like "Are they truly villains?"

 

One I like is Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. This guy goes after a monster who has locked away a maiden in some castle. That's the description of Prince Charming in like 6 other Disney movies, yet he is the 'villain'.

I think Gaston's problem was that he didn't get that no means no.

Let's not forget he sexually harasses Belle to feed his own ego! Scar's an interesting character, but there's the fratricide plus the land is visibly dying when he becomes king.

Mother Gothel. Kidnapping aside, she's a pretty good mother considering how Rapunzel turned out. And she clearly cares for her more than the King and Queen do. They couldn't find the girl with magical blonde hair who lives in a tower not too far away from their castle. They give up pretty quickly too and just start releasing bloody lanterns the weirdos.

Hans has a pretty Machiavellian way of trying to sieze power, (and one that makes no sense to the feudal system), but when he was in charge, he was a pretty good ruler, personally distributing clothes and supplies to the suffering commoners. What does Elsa do? Makes them an ice skating rink.

Well, they had to give him some villain quality. Just like how Scar had to kill Mufasa and be wrong about how to rule the Pridelands. Otherwise everyone would root for them. 

 

As someone describes in response to Scar's rule desolating the land: "Sure, he was wrong. That doesn't mean he is bad."

Alix`s vid was really funny  poor guy  ! They usually had update the site by now... And the London meet-up is today? So maybe they give us something later? (wishfull thinking  )

Disney villains? I can't say I have liked many although I often like bad guys... I guess disney tends to do their characters too black and white for me. I like Hans though XD
