Any ideas on where he is in those pictures? Is that a throne in the background and especially one I should recognize?

It's the same background as in that Leliana pic. You can see the other companions back there. Also a lion statue... ahem.

I think the background one is both the best-looking and the most recognizably him, although I think the sword-raising one is a plausible look after a few rough years too.

DAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamnn I am very pleased with this upgrade from ramen noodle hair. I was never particularly impressed with Cullen's appearance in DA1/2, but this here is quite a beautiful transformation 

I know Bioware's Canadian, and DA has an international audience, but I like to imagine they're making a statement about him by releasing his bio page on my country's INDEPENDENCE DAY   Despite leading the Templars, perhaps he wants more freedoms and rights for mages?? *in my dreams*  *or not*

It does certainly look like a throne and some of the companions are next to it as well.

The devs have reported both on Sera and Leliana that there have been some in-engine issues with eye-colour (colours switching around and all that). Cullen is just another victim. A purty victim. Yum.

 

Ah, that explains why Cullen suddenly has blue eyes, and Leliana suddenly has brown.
