I plan to romance Cullen, but... um... he's not as attractive as DA2 Cullen. Yikes. He looks... not good.

Looks the same to me. Its a different game engine.   None of the characters are going to look like what we expect of them.

Oh that's just his serious face, don't mind him. I think the same thing was said for Leliana when the first images of her were released. They aren't going to look identical because they look more realistic than they previously did. But I still think it looks like Cullen -- just with more detail -- and still think he is just as attractive, even more so than before because he is more realistic looking.

But they look like two different people, right?

I think the tip of his nose is more upturned in DAI, the vertical distances between his eyes and mouth / hairline and mouth are shorter in DAI, and his eyes look more sunken in DAI. (EDIT: And measuring it out, the second one of those isn't even true, I guess it just looks that way because his DAI face is wider.) None of the three of those are improvements to me, either, but (1) I never found him incredibly, pants-meltingly physically attractive to begin with so it's not a huge deal to me and (2) while it may just be a function of blurriness, the background picture looks a lot more recognizable to me than the orange Twitter one or the one you used as an example.
