[DA]: And now?

[BB]: In the previous games, Cullen was there as a templar. He had work to do. But why did he become a templar in the first place? Who was he before that? Who is he beyond that? These were questions I had to consider. In Inquisition, the player can explore these ideas with him.

Can't decide which parts I'm most excited about, but this is close..."But why did he become a templar in the first place? Who was he before that? Who is he beyond that? These were questions I had to consider. In Inquisition, the player can explore these ideas with him."OH YEAH!!!!

Ikr?! It's like she's been peeking into our brain as she was writing him.

Spoiler

(Bah, the page isn't loading correctly for me. Thank goodness for you guys C&P'n it!)

[BB]: Cullen's been through a lot. As a result, he takes his new position very seriously. Your soldiers depend on him, after all, and he will do right by them. He expects a lot of the Inquisition and of himself. Some of my favorite parts to write were the moments where he lets that drop a bit—the moments where you see him relax and he can be the person behind the soldier.

[BB]: Cullen has a lot of respect for his fellow advisors. Of course, that doesn't mean they always get along. For example, Cullen is a practical person who appreciates a straightforward, honest approach. Leliana, who has worked behind the scenes for the Divine for years, won't come at a problem the same way.

[HAPPY PURRING NOISES] Yes, this is good. This is all I wanted. So good.

Well, it would make sense to lurk the forums, and see what his fans want to know about him.

Otherwise... I'm pleased. Nothing headcanon breaking for me. In fact, she describes in many of the same ways I would. I'm happy. Good. Yay.

I wonder if she was one of the writers for "Jade Empire".

I don't think Brianne was at Bioware at that point.

The first time I saw her was on ME3: Citadel, I think.

[DA]: You mentioned that he is one of three advisors. Does Cullen get along well with his peers?

[BB]: Cullen has a lot of respect for his fellow advisors. Of course, that doesn't mean they always get along. For example, Cullen is a practical person who appreciates a straightforward, honest approach. Leliana, who has worked behind the scenes for the Divine for years, won't come at a problem the same way.

They are definitely trolling the Scribblers at this point. Only talking about Leliana like that.

Oh, it seems I'm already following her on Twitter :P I'm such a stalker.

Not many new things in the interview, but I loved this:

"The templars failed to protect their charges and the people of Kirkwall. The Order has not lived up to its ideal, and though it wasn't easy for him, Cullen now recognizes that. It's something he's still processing, but he's looking to move forward and fight for something he can believe in."

"He's a leader: someone people can turn to, someone they can trust to make the right call, even if it's a tough one."

"Cullen's been through a lot. As a result, he takes his new position very seriously. Your soldiers depend on him, after all, and he will do right by them. He expects a lot of the Inquisition and of himself. Some of my favorite parts to write were the moments where he lets that drop a bit—the moments where you see him relax and he can be the person behind the soldier."

I'm so looking forward to seeing him both as a leader and then relaxed around my Quizzy.

Hiya!  I feel slightly like I might be in the wrong thread cause I might just like Cullen as a friend, but I've been lurking for a few days now and you all just seem so... nice.  And decent.  And kind.  It's like a whole different forum in here, and I dont want to go back out there!  So I might stay.  And try to be chatty.  I have the social awkwardness thing, but I babble when I'm nervous so it might work.  :D

Cullen friend! Stay! Talk! :)

I felt a little let down at first, like, "there's nothing here we didn't already know!" but I may have been conflating headcanon and/or fanon with canon, and the fact that they're not in conflict is significant information in itself now that you point it out.

I do wish they could have dropped a tiny detail or two about what he's like when he relaxes a bit, because it was obvious that that was going to happen at some point given that he's a romance, but in October I'll be glad they didn't. And I'm glad to get confirmation that we'll hear what his life was like before becoming a Templar.

I only just realized that the feathers on Cullen's helmet flow into the cape and look like a full lion's mane. That's pretty cool. I wonder if Vivienne and Dorian will appreciate that he's easily best dressed warrior. lol

This is intriguing. I had always imagined him having a crisis of faith following DA2. Did he become disenchanted with the Order immediately after Meredith died? Or later when Lambert divorced the Order from the Chantry? When did he quit the Templar Order? When he joined the Inquisition? Or earlier?

With him joining the Inquisition, I wonder if any of the other Templars we met in Kirkwall do, like the recruits or more experienced ones like Agatha and Moira.

Exactly. It could have been totally out there. "He's broken from his experience in Kirkwall and became a drunk." "His PTSD relapses and he starts hunting mages." But instead, it's a reasonable extrapolation from where he was in 9:37. I think many of us would have written the same thing.

I think she was on DLC for ME3, and wrote some of the multiplayer Operations speeches by Hackett.

2 things

1. He's either well-endowed or it's a really tight pants.

2. Are Cullen and Kaidan have the same hairdresser?
