Yeah... about that. I asked it earlier but my post "drowned" in this thread. How exactly do we celebrate?

You can see all the past celebrations linked in the OPs (or just skip back to page 1000). Short answer:we do lots of stuff, but for 2000 we're laying low because our celebration for 1000 was just the other day.  Usually pics, crafts, recipes, fics, banters, photomanips, playlists, poems. The creativity is strong in this fandom. For this one, we'll just squee, throw up some pics, and try to develop something for the next milestone (pg 3000).

Now we don't, but we usually have a theme. Last time I think it was singing. People write fanfiction, draw something or edit a pic and they post it on the page.

Okay, still at work and on my phone. Read the interview, thought it was great! Then saw all the negative comments in the Twitter thread about fan service and all that.

I'm tired of that crap. So I'm just going to say this and get it out of my system.

NEENER-NEENER-NEENER! FAN SERVICE OR NOT, IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE I GOT MY CULLEN, AND NOTHING YOU SAY OR DO IS GOING TO CHANGE THE FACT THAT HE'S IN INQUISITION LEADING UR ARRR-MEEEEES! SO NYAAAAAH!

Ha,ha  . That's a healthy approach. Yeah, "crap" is the right word for it. It seriously bothers me that Cullen has to be fan service. Because the only reason why he is in the game is to please the female players who want to romance him (well, not that this wouldn't be true *cough*). No chance that he is there for a reason, let's say the story  . And even though David Gaider and Allen Schumacher have already said that he is NOT fan service at all, people just won't listen. I guess a set opinion is a set opinion. I think the reason why I find this offensive is that it reduces 1. a pretty cool character to nothing more than his looks and 2. it reduces me as a female player to someone shallow who can't possibly be interested in other aspects of the game. At least this is how I feel about it.

I believe the actual color for his eyes was "amber" in the toolset. I believe it's the same in DA2, but someone told me it says it's hazel somewhere (but I don't know where). 

 

But yes, on twitter Mike Laidlaw said the eye color is a bug. Another dev, Liz Lehtonen (sp?), confirmed it specifically for Cullen. 

 

Well that makes me much happier. Amber would be a better description now that I think about it haha. I've heard others say it's hazel, but I don't really see it. Alistair would be hazel-eyed, if anything.

 

 

Whereas Cullen's have always (appeared?) some shade of brown.

 

 

Wow he looks super pale in comparison to his hallway scene in Origins I gotta say hahaha. I always wondered if it was an effect of the fire sconces that made him look so much more tanned in DAO.. Poor thing needs some sunlight in DA2.

Ive googled amber eyes just to make sure im not insane and this is what came up (im gonna show a few samples  unless you guys want me to posat every pic on google) so amber eyes are a very light brown or mid tone brown

His morph file in DA:O says his eye color is amber, while his DA2 morph file says the color is hazel:

I shouldn't be allowed to abuse Photoshop but lol the outdoor screenshots of Cullen in the mountains in DA2 always bothered me because there was an annoying green filter effect over everything and it tended to distort colors at times. Anyway... I did a comparison, removed the green filter and upped the contrast/brightness to get a clearer look at his eyes. I suppose both could be brown? But then again the removed green effect made the picture more red/magenta so that affected his eyes as well...

 

 

I'm just going to assume brown since his eyes were very clearly very dark brown in Origins and I suppose with the toolset listing "amber" they'll probably shoot for some sorta happy in-between once the eye color bug is fixed? IDK

Also probably the fact that all the eyes were super-dark and hard to see in Origins didn't help... and in contrast the fact a lot of eye colors in DA2 were either super light or super saturated? Lol.

tbh I wouldn't mind if he had green eyes . Green is my fav color and personally i think it would suit him

The poor farm boy thing is def one of my faves. We did an origin story challenge once upon a time which was fun. It might be fun to revisit before the game comes out. 

 

This is something I've often thought about. I always felt like, in DA2, his real beef with Meredith at the end was that Meredith wasn't following the "true" path of the Templar Order. That he has this more ideal version of the Order in his head that isn't borne out by reality. I always felt like he was headed for a crisis of faith in Order because of that, and that Meredith was just one step. The Lambert thing would be another. Maybe there were others along the way that made him decide that even the Order doesn't follow "what the Order stands for" anymore. 

 

Yeah I always thought that his crisis of faith would be about the Order and not his religious beliefs. And it was pretty clear that in act 3 he was already starting to question all of this even if he didn't clarify on it.

 

I don't know if it was one of your stories...........? But I remember reading one where he and Hawke are on the run after Kirkwall and she is injured and he ends up taking her to his parents farm so they could rest and she could heal. This is what got me onto Cullen background being a simple farm boys life I twas so well written and completely believable and it was Cullen/Hawke..... Love that duo

Yea I agree, in origins everything was kind of dark and in DA2 everything looked light/desaturated... soo idk.. But hey! Even with this eye bug that they have going on,  gotta say even with blue eyes he doesn't look bad I guess thats just goes to show that Cullen looks good with ANY eye color

His eyes look amber-golden to me. Hazel is more greenish. Mine are hazel too, but there are different shades of hazel, which makes things complicated
