I'm halfway between amused and disappointed at the continued insistence advisor romances must be inferior. I'm genuinely looking forward to Cullen and the advisor dynamic as a whole.
I think the devs mentioned that they spent equal resources and content on npc romances, but I understand that the whole dynamic might appear inferior to those who want to have their LI in their party.
Personally I don't mind that much at this point,so I'm also looking forward to them.

I hope we get Citadel style dates, aka "Zuko style life changing field trips" with our companions and advisors.

It's weird how he looks different in every picture, isn't it.
Yep.
I'm wondering if the frowning badass look pic was taken while he was "in motion." Such as the one where he raises his sword.
Take Leliana : she is very pretty on the pictures because she's steady and it seems like she's posing. But some of her expressions in the E3 trailer were...weird.

I think people are just equating them to the ME NPC romances because that's the only frame of reference they have. Frankly, I'm also super excited to explore the content that the DA team have put together. I don't think it'll be inferior at all. I used to drag Alistair around everywhere in Origins and not being able to do that with Cullen should provide a significantly different experience, at least in that regard. No accidental clicks/confessions in the middle of missions ; p

Agree. It makes me wonder if some of the shots were from slightly different model tweaks? Or maybe they just look that different from different angles once they're in motion.Yep.

I always felt like Fenris looked very different between his cutscenes (*swooon*) and his walking around town model (*STOP SLOUCHING*). So maybe that's some of it, too?

The funny thing? I actually tended to prefer the NPC LIs. Sam in particular. I think this is the case. I mean, if you look at Solas's stills, you can definitely tell there are some slight differences between each picture (specifically around his nose). So I wouldn't be surprised if his model was getting tweaked between stills, and that he will be altered further when the game ships.

Sign me up for also super-excited for an NPC romance. Joker from Mass Effect was my first call to arms on the subject, which, uh, didn't work out so well for me. But I really like the dynamic of that kind of relationship--one of them going off to fight battles and right wrongs, while the other did something equally important, but probably not as dangerous, back at base. Granted, it seems that Cullen will also be going off to do epic things without us, which puts us in that worrying seat, which is so awesome. Ah, I can't wait to see how this plays out in game! ![]()
I'm just really excited about NPC LI's, guys.

[SNRRK] Now I'm imagining Cullen just having this naturally gloriously beautiful hair, and it just boggles Leliana, Dorian, Varric, and Vivienne's minds, because Cullen is so completely practical and not-fabulous. Like, he isn't using his powers of fabulous to their full potential. Thus they spend their days trying to get Cullen to come over to the fabulous side.

Although I haven't actually tried the npc romances in me3 and I am a little sad that I can't have Cullen in my party, I am actually looking forward to seeing just how they are handling it. Maybe he and the other advisors are not in the party but still travel with us ocassionally, like 'I'll meet you there' sort of thing. And just so we don't miss out on the extra content we may or may not have had with them in the group, they are adding something special to compensate.
Also it frees up a slot in the group giving a chance for more varied companions, I know in Origins I always had Alistair with me, and depending on whether I was a mage or rogue, it limited who else I could add...so Sten Shale Zevran never really got picked if I wa a rogue and I hardly ever used Wynne or Morrigan when I was a mage. So this should be interesting.

See, the devs said that the advisors can't be in our party, but then we know we have some sort of quests with them... so are they being purposely obscure and it just means that the advisor (for example, Cullen) will come with us and fight with us but not be in our party (thus not being controllable) or does it mean that they'll literally just show up in cutscenes during a quest?

We need to start generating ideas... if we want a theme.
So far I've heard:
BAMF
Man behind the soldier
Why did he become a templar?
Okay, here is what I came up with after a quick brainstorming session:
- From Kirkwall to Inquisition. (Basically a story about how Cullen joined the inquisition so we can all laugh our a**es off when we find out how wrong we were).
- Witch Hunt reloaded. (The story is not about Morrigan. But it is about a malificar that Cullen hears about. Will he hunt her/him down? What will he do if he finds her/him?)
- The tournament. (While Cullen is still based at Kirkwall, the citizens need something to cheer about. So he is responsible for overseeing a huge tournament.
- LOL. A Cullen-Doctor-Who-Crossover.
- Every person has two sides to them. (One they let the world see, one they keep to themselves. Inspisration from My life in quotes. Since Cullen has seen it all, the good, the bad and the ugly, we could explore more how this changed his personality).
To clarify, I wrote "story" because I look at things from a storytelling perspective. But that doesn't rule out other art forms. I think the above topics could work for poems, drawings or cakes as well. I'm done for now but I think I could do a little bit more brainstorming tomorrow.
Better late than never, but yay 2000 pages!
And because I never tire of this.
OMG! This is adorable!! ![]()
