I wonder when Cassandra recruited him? Maybe right after the Varric interrogation?

Would probably have to be the case. To avoid plot holes and such.

Maybe before? I mean, there WAS 3 years between Anders blowing up the Chantry, and Cass coming to find out the truth,

Possibly, or anyway around that time, considering she recruits him for his work and leadership in Kirkwall.

Okay, here is what I came up with after a quick brainstorming session:

  1. From Kirkwall to Inquisition. (Basically a story about how Cullen joined the inquisition so we can all laugh our a**es off when we find out how wrong we were).
  2. Witch Hunt reloaded. (The story is not about Morrigan. But it is about a malificar that Cullen hears about. Will he hunt her/him down? What will he do if he finds her/him?)
  3. The tournament. (While Cullen is still based at Kirkwall, the citizens need something to cheer about. So he is responsible for overseeing a huge tournament.
  4. LOL. A Cullen-Doctor-Who-Crossover.
  5. Every person has two sides to them. (One they let the world see, one they keep to themselves. Inspisration from My life in quotes. Since Cullen has seen it all, the good, the bad and the ugly, we could explore more how this changed his personality).

To clarify, I wrote "story" because I look at things from a storytelling perspective. But that doesn't rule out other art forms. I think the above topics could work for poems, drawings or cakes as well. I'm done for now but I think I could do a little bit more brainstorming tomorrow.

[...]

Okay, some more brainstorm ideas before I go to bed:

6. Cullen's secret

7. Metamorphosis

8. His favorite animal

9. Temptation (I like that one  )

10. Cullen's quest (well, how might his quest in DAI look like?)

Given how much material we have to work with this time around... I wonder if we should just have a series of possible prompts for people looking for inspiration.

Like:

BAMF

Lions

Cullen's childhood

Cullen's hobbies

Something like that...?

Ahem... BAMF stands for Bad A** Mother F*****?

"Lion" is is a bit ambigiuous, so I like this theme very much.

This is what I'm thinking.  Otherwise she wouldn't have had to have spoken about Varric about Meredith and the events of that battle.  Though saying that, Cassandra was much more focused on Hawke, and I'm pretty sure she just wanted to hear more about them specifically.  Also I'm assuming that Cass would have checked her sources before interrogating Varric, and what better source than someone who was there, knew at least a little about Hawke, was there for the most part whilst he/she was there, and also having been stuck in the battle.

I'm also imagining that they would have needed a bit of time to get some agents or armies or whatever we're going to have raised.  Hmm, the more I think about it the more I think that she recruited Cullen before she got Varric's interrogation.  Could be either way of course haha  ^_^

Knight Enchanter will probably be good for that... from what I can tell you're like a warrior but with a magic sword instead? Which works better for me because I hate having to stay back whilst everyone else gets to storm into the heat of the battle and kick arse.

I'm starting to picture the Knight Enchanters as Thedosian Jedi, running around with their magic lightsabers.

Plus, if he was already recruited then he should have been there outside Hawke's house at the end when Cass and Leliana talk about "plan B", but he wasn't.

True, though he may have been busy organising troops and such.  Or he may simply have been wherever they were staying whilst they were in Kirkwall (if that's where they were, I haven't played DA2 since March so some details might be lost on me).  Eurgh, I really want it to be October.  I'm getting more excited about this game than moving out!

Probably. Maybe she went to go find him, to verify what Varric said, and found out about his cleaning up the place. (He was probably at the Wounded Coast during the interrogation. That place is always full of flippin' bandits.)

Varric does mention at the end that more Templars were called in to help clean up kirkwall but that in general it was too late to deal with the bulk of it. So I guess Cullen organised all that and spent a few years clearing the place up.

... I wanna know what he done with Meredith's corpse statue!

That's what I thought, that Cullen was possibly the person who pointed her towards Varric in the first place.
Although that wouldn't explain Cassandra's assumptions about Hawke's role in the incident.Unless Cullen didn't get the opportunity to explain the whole situation, for one reason or the other.

Well, that's probably how the Red Templars started. The only way red lyrium would have been available to experiment with would be Meredith.

Hmm, that's true.  Gah, I'l need to look at all the cut scenes with her again.  Can't wait to get to know Cass more though, she's a bit more serious, but I think her straight forward manner will make her get along with my Quizzy stunningly.

Morning,

Sorry for mucking up the attribution for the Cullen Cookies picture.  I thought it was 100% Eric, although thinking about it I remember the original picture from the old thread.  I don't know who the original artist is though - whoever you are 'LIKE' and appreciation.

I think it seems more logical for Cassandra to have interviewed Cullen prior to Varric, if possible.  Varric was a bit of a shady figure and it seems prudent to have something to contrast his account with.  Who's to say she was being entirely forthcoming with Varric about her knowledge of the Champion or Kirkwall?  How much would Cullen have known about the idol anyway?  I don't know what sort of assurances he would have been able to give about Hawke's involvement with the Mage underground/Anders stuff particularly if Hawke was a mage supporter (and coming clean - I've never thought the ending made ANY sense if Hawke sides with the Templars in act 3, even though I enjoyed having the option).  It all seems very suspicious to me anyway.

CULLEN: Well, we didn't think it was wise to burn her--the dwarves warned us that the lyrium fumes would be terribly toxic--so...

CASSANDRA: So you put a blanket over her.

CULLEN: [SHRUGS] Burying was just asking for someone to dig her up and steal her, and, again, dropping that much lyrium into the water is begging trouble. As it is, we have recruits daring one another to chip off her nose... Better to keep her where we can see her. Or, well, monitor her.

LELIANA: It seems very... disrespectful. To just toss something over her face like this...

CULLEN: Have you seen her face? [LIFTS BLANKET]

LELIANA & CASSANDRA: [WINCE]

LELIANA: Point... made, Knight-Commander.

Inquisitor: "What happened to Meredith's charred remains?"

Cullen: "... Some of the Templars huffed her up their noses"

So, we know the Divine was still alive when the fledgling Inquisition was formed, which means that Cullen would have likely met with the Divine a fair bit before she kicks the bucket. I wonder how he takes it? Funny to think that he's already going to be there when our protagonist takes over, I'm gonna bee-line that man the minute I see him. Literally, the second the scene ends and we take back control of our character I'm gonna be over there like a shot introducing myself!
