I think you will have Cullen (and the other advisors) for the whole game from the moment they will join you. My guess is that they will join you pretty early, too. Hmmm... I'm still not sure if they will stay with you no matter what you do. So, maybe dying isn't the only way how you could lose one of your advisors. 

 

I agree with you on Cassandra. She will probably be the first companion. I think the trailer hinted (at?) that. Not sure when we will meet Varric. My first guess was that he is still with Cassandra somehow but three years have passed since DA 2, so that would be unlikely. But maybe Cassandra makes suggestions for some of the companions, companions that she has met before.   

Cassandra: "Inquiisitor, you will need a military advisor. I've heard that Cullen is in town. Why don't you talk with him? And btw, you will need a rogue, too. I know this dwarf..."

Remember the Cassandra interrogating Varric part happens in 9:40, same year as Inquisition starts.

So a thing I didn't really think about, but...does this mean that we'll have Cullen throughout the whole game (barring him dying or whatever)? And if so...isn't that AWESOME! Also who do you think will be our first three companions.

 

I'm thinking Cassandra, Varric and either Solas or Vivienne.

I hear you and totally feel your pain. I've officially given up. I'm certain that they thought my application (submitted on the first day, thank you very much) must have been a joke. I'm a 54-year-old (55 next month) gay man whose main passion is gaming. I'm so far out of their demographic they probably used a combination of philosophy and logic to prove I don't exist.
 
At least they can't deny me the thing when everyone gets access to it.

Naww my dad, who is 69 this year is the only older person I know that still likes to game, but it made him a pretty epic parent! If we wanted to stay home from school as kids he would challenge us to a game of Dr Robotnics Meanbean on the Sega Megadrive and if we won then we could pull a sicky - we didn't win much

But just because it's a rare demographic, in no way should it mean that you should get discounted. So I hope they didn't chuck your application to the side because they deemed it as "odd"

It's funny because pre info dump Cassandra and Varric were almost inseparable and I thought we'd get them as a packaged deal, like we kind of did with the Hawke Sibling and Aveline, but then I think it was mentioned that you don't get them at the exact same time so maybe we get them shortly afterwards or maybe we do have to pick him up?

 

Ooh, what if him and some of his soldiers drag you to Cassandra and then she interrogates you and maybe he's like, "Hey uh I don't think they know anything."

Crap. Never mind. Remember that scene in the Gameplay trailer when Varric shows up in that dark cavern like place? That seemed like his "intro scene", more or less. I think we will pick Varric up as we leave with Cass.

Maybe this has been said, but am I the only one who sees the opening gameplay being a little like ME3? Like first we are solo for the prologue, then it is Quizzy and Cassandra because she is hauling us back to the Keep. Then we run into Varric and there is some demony fighting. Then at the Keep we meet our advisers and Vivianne. I just can see Cullen, Scribbles (who right now I secretly imagine as Vivianne's sister ), and Leilanna all looking over the map waiting for Cassandra and the Divine to come back. Just my speculations because I have to feed my DA fix somehow until October. I get all twitchy otherwise. I know my imaginings compared to the real thing is the difference between diner coffee and Cafe Espresso, but mama need her candy

OOH! "Our soldiers found you" etc... for the past few months I've been thinking, "I hope I don't rush the first few hours of the game because I'm in too much of a hurry to get to Cullen." His being one of the first people we meet would be awesome.

Given that it seems to be randomly chosen, I would guess that being in a rare demo can only help you.

lol, I think the entire game is going to be a little like ME3. I have even speculated that it'll have a sort of "war asset" system like ME3 did, considering the Military, Trade, and Espionage branches, and the potential option to upgrade a captured keep to any of those. It also has the non-companion romances just like ME3. I am just hoping that we don't have to die in the end, even though that is a very probably theory.

Absolutely not acceptable! I have not waited 5 years to romance Cullen with my protagonist only for them to up and die on him! *shakes fists* Hells no!

Hmm, I may need to rewatch that. But, from what I recall, it did seem cheeky enough for intro. I'm honestly fascinated with the "Varric may not be with Cass willingly" notion, so perhaps the 'separate but traveling together' notion will make sense once we know the whole story.
